July's Jolly Jabbers

OH just phoned, en route to the chemist. The dr says it's erysipelas which is very similar to cellulitis. He has to have a high level of antibiotics and if he starts feeling worse then he needs to see someone straight away as he may need to be admitted ... it can be dangerous if not controlled quickly. He does has eczema which might be how it started, or it could have been an insect bite, not that he was aware of being bitten.

:GroupHug: Alex. I'll be thinking of Mya :flowers:

:GroupHug: suzeanna - I hope it turns out to be something not too serious.

Murtle - the hotspot is an area of infected skin. It's mostly hairless and quite sore. He keeps bothering at it with licking, which obviously makes it worse. If it's no better today I think he'll be off to see the vet for so antibiotics.

There is a scent gland at the base of the tail that can get infected.
