I went to the pharmacy and bought him some Pepto Bismol after some Googling, so he's had his first dose. I have taken Kinky down to the neighbours for a visit and will collect her at teatime, unless they go out first. I am expecting my first Ocado delivery between 11 and 12 from a lady called Alison in a Cabbage van, which apparently relates to the colour of the van Then at 1.30 I am expecting a collection from the Hermes courier who didn't turn up yesterday afternoon, even though I waited in In between all that I really should be sorting out my arbour which has half collapsed but I've just started another book so probably won't. Bit of a curse having a tablet to read off, because I can buy books instantaneously, so as soon as I've finished one, I start another. Hoping he's had the surgery on his leg & is more comfortable. Well narked with someone who has not taken up a holiday booking because I smelt a rat a while back when they said they'd e-mailed me to confirm & basically they hadn't. A provisional enquiry is absolutely fair enough but I just don't understand why anyone has to lie. Actually beginning to wonder if this whole holiday letting lark is worth it! Does that apply to council homes or any? Hope Max is now on his way to recovery Alex and Kinky cat is back with you Just got back from seeing Dad. He has confirmed stepmother doesn't want any more to do with us. So I just told him not to upset himself. It's not like it will affect him in the future cos he isn't going home thanks to her. I won't lose sleep over it. Certiainly won't at the moment. Took one of these pills at about 1am and slept in til Martyn woke me up at 1pm and still feel sleepy. And you do get to stay there when it's vacant too :-) Hope you're colleague is ok. So sorry you're having to move Jazz. My sister's getting hit with the bedroom tax too but she can't cope with moving - she's been in her flat for over 30 years and has lots of physical and mental health problems - so she's scrimping every penny she can so that she can stay there. And now there's the loss of council tax benefit to contend with. This is real people with real problems the government are persecuting - god forbid they tax their extremely wealthy friends and the corporations that avoid billions in tax every year. Sorry - rant over. Fingers crossed Max stays well Alex. Tagamet was the only thing that worked for my old staffie Stanley who had lifelong gastric problems. We've had 4 seasons in one day here today. merledogs Posted February 3, 2013 Author Report Share Posted February 3, 2013 Moaning Jayne - 8 am would be a very long lie in here Slept with all four dogs on the bed last night and we all had a very snuggly night. Max has had his Pepto Bismol this morning so will keep an eye out and see if he pukes again this morning. Kinky's leg is still crocked and not showing much sign of improvement, but these things can take months to heal. I'm not going to put her through an operation and have a plate in her leg because I think that would be harder for her to carry round (vet said the plate would be quite heavy). She doesn't seem to be in any pain and is enjoying being back here with her mum. She spends her days bossing her brothers around and demanding cuddles off me She has been going out for pootles in the garden for the past week or so and as long as I am in the house, she doesn't show any signs of wanting to go back to the neighbours, but she is locked in when I go out. Be nice in the summer when we can have the door open so she can come in and out without me having to get up off the sofa 456 times a night for her and Mia. Went downstairs to let them out for a wee and now they are squeaking because they want breakfast Bloody dogs Going to look at the nice sofa I have seen online today, hope it's as comfy as it looks Forgot to mention, remember how Ted was supposed to be having x rays whilst I was away? Well they were cancelled as the x ray machine was broken. So I am taking him on Tuesday now. Goodness knows how much this will cost me, as even though he is insured, the vets demand payment at the time. If he does need an op, there is no way I am letting my vets near him with a scalpel, I'll ask them to refer him to my friend who is a specialist orthopedic vet in Nantwich. Whizzie Posted February 3, 2013 Report Share Posted February 3, 2013 (edited) Work colleague has had some surgery but one more session to follow. It sounds as if he has made a real mess of one leg. Does anyone know much about horses? We (i.e. me plus 4 dogs) have just been chased by two. It was quite scary! The horses were on the footpath in a field so we walked the long way round the other 3 sides of the field to get to the stile. Unfortunately by the time we were nearly there the horses had moved in that direction too. The ground is boggy & uneven so walking 4 dogs on lead is awkward so I put Hobie & Reuben on leads & the older girls walked close to me off leads. None of them barked or looked at the horses but one headed right for us. We carried on walking & got past the horse, Charlie lagged slightly but slunk past when called. I thought we were in the clear until I hear thundering hooves behind me & could hear the horses breathing near me so I virtually threw myself over the stile dragging Hobie & Reuben through. Toffee followed but poor Charlie got left behind with 2 big horses between her & the stile & gate. She was too frightened to come through for ages & hung back. I tied the other 3 to a fence post further down, managed to get the horses over to one side a bit & then entice Charlie along the fence & under the stile. Not sure what I should have done in the circumstances. Is it right to have horses that behave like this around a public footpath? suzeanna Posted February 3, 2013 Report Share Posted February 3, 2013 You probably didn't stop to look at the horses body language..but if their ears were up and forward, they were interested and probably hoping you had a treat for them...if they were laid flat back, they objected to you being in their field and were letting you know! I've been barged by half a dozen ponies wanting their feed before now, it's not usually dangerous unless they start squabbling amongst themselves, if they turn their backs to you, move...quick! It means a couple of hind legs are about to be planted in your chest or wherever, but usually it was aimed for another horse...a mistake to get in the way. 1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
