I took Emily, a young girl with down syndrome that I look after at the weekends, to a Pets as Therapy event. There were lots of other children and young people present who also had special needs and they were having a great time interacting with the dogs. Whilst we were supervising them a lady came over asked me how old Emily was and what specialist school she attended. I answered her and then asked, 'what specialist school does your son go to?' At this stage she looked at me with a blank expression and said 'that's not my son, that's my partner' I was mortified!! Sorry Laura but that made me laugh Watching Urban Fox Attack I don't know why I am still surprised by peoples cruelty, but it always breaks my heart to see the complete lack of compassion for these lovely animals I didnt watch it for that very reason!! owl Posted July 5, 2010 Report Share Posted July 5, 2010 Photos sent to Jacobean We have been out for a nice walk on the mountain at a quiet time when we can stay well away from everyone but he hasn't coughed at all. It may be that he was affected by the grass cutting going on yesterday. Time will tell. He is now relaxing and listening to some of Wispa's fave music, and looking very smart in a rolled leather collar inherited from Humphrey. Very slim neck for a staffy x. He needs a name. I think he may answer to Rusty, but mostly you can call him anything you like and he will come if he thinks food or cuddles are available. General opinion at present is staffy x beagle with some kind of hound or lurcher, but I suspect a bit of ridgeback in the mix. Out on the walk he acted like a beagle, but he also points like mad at everything and is very interested in birds. It is very strange having a dog in the house who is really a dog. I haven't had a proper dog before. Shelties are members of the faery folk. Pulis according to the Hungarians are not dogs, and according to someone who regularly mails the puli lists they came in from outer space with a bunch of alien warlords. It's interesting that no puli owner has ever told him he is talking nonsense And Wispa is ... well ... Wispa I am used to living with canines who know they are much smarter than me.
