RMF : Next time I just pop out for half hour to do a bit of painting the garage, I must remember to slap sun cream on cos three hours later my shoulders are bright red  Garage looks so much better though, even without sorting the window/door which need replacing.

Going to feed the birds/cats/dogs, have a quick shower and then watch Wimbo partie2tennis.gif

Garden is a big shock but now the great big rockery shrubbery thing in the middle has been thinned out you can actually see the original layout that my mum & dad had planted plus the bushes have been reshaped so look really interesting - or they will when they leaf back up a bit. They have also taken the rotten roof off the gazebo which had rotted through years ago after mum grew a clematis over it which had died, now the roof is gone it actually looks good and is very sound so just needs staining and it'll look lovely. There is now a clear area where I think I might put a bird station - amongst other rediscovered things is a lovely stone birdbath which had been completely overgrown. The garden now looks almost double in size and seems a lot more light - even though it was always light it just seems a bit more light lol

Merle, well done and I hope the people will take note of what you said.

Chrissie found a Tacuma specialist on the net, in Huddersfield. Will call them tomorrow. They are offering a v good price for them as scrap, minimum is £50 less than what I paid for it. But I have been told that the engine control ecu on mine is locked into the indiividual car so you can't swap them. The next year they changed to a different make which is swappable. Mine can only be replaced by a brand new one from the factory which is about £600 - eek!

buddyboy, any suggestions are welcome but I will wait and see what Huddersfield people say, and if they agree that you can't put a 2nd hand one on mine. Meanwhile someone who works at my local garage knows of a tatty but sound Vauxhall Vectra with tax and mot, so am waiting to hear more about that.

I can't, of course, scrap the Tacuma until DVLA have sent me the log book.

Moaning :tired:

Great stuff. Martyn's car is about to go very expensive on us so we need to find something else. Big estate or 4 x 4 reliable enough to get us on our holibobs with the dogs all their stuff and a bit of our stuff.

Not sure how old you want, but I can thoroughly recommend the Honda CR-V (I have the 04 model). Very reliable - mine had 100k on the clock when I bought it in 2009 and I've never had a day's trouble with it. Boot is big anyway, but the back seats fold right forward to give you even more space. If you're after the newer model then I don't think they have as much space. Only downside is that it guzzles petrol, but I think some of the newer (but still same shape) models have diesel engines which are more economical :flowers:

Andy Murray gave us another flippin' scare didn't he?
