Jacobean
That beach looks fab and what a wonderful twosome. Hope the day goes well tomorrow. Oldies Club are in October's edition of Dogs Today by the way. It's in the shops if anyone is interested in having a peek. Gemstone
Was over your way at the parents this afternoon Julia. Weather was weird. Indeed it was! Four seasons in one day! You should call in for coffee sometime

owl
Scurry free little hammy They aren't around for nearly long enough. Great photo, Marge. Bit of a panic this afternoon. One of the Doglost missing ones where I had been advising turned up, a pregnant yorkie due to give birth, but she had whelped the pups deep down in a bunny hole. Yorkie was able to get in and out and have food, but the pups were inaccessible though visible as someone turned up with a camera on a cable. No squeaks were heard and they didn't seem to be moving. As I used to live nearby, there were people I could contact and one of them got hold of a terrier man who was there pdq and dug them out. 2 pups had gone over the Bridge, possibly stillborn or died soon after birth, but pup 3 was fished out alive and kicking and is now settled down in the warm with mum. Very relieved for little mum, at least she has one to nurse and care for.
merledogs
Morning The asbos had a bbq in the pouring rain last night (erected a tent in the garden) and the noise was as banging as ever Lovely pic Marge San Owl - sad about the puppies that died, but really pleased mum and one baby are well RMF : Am pondering whether to fence the grass off early this year. I don't normally do it until October ish, but it's been so wet and the ground is so soggy that it's turning into a mud bath. Jacobean
Morning Glad Yorkie and remaining pup are now fine. San Alex what are environmental health doing about it? Cleared a load of nettles in the garden yesterday. It gets out of hand so quickly but hard to keep up with all the rain we've had. I was out there in the rain doing it yesterday. Having a quiet start to the day but have a mock exam to write up today and submit. Hope to be doing the real thing next Saturday. Well more hope to get it out of the way and that it goes ok rather than looking forward to it.
merledogs
Alex what are environmental health doing about it? They've closed the case for now because the asbos went quiet (for them) for a while after they had their warning. I can get them to open it again, but then I might have to go to court to give evidence if they are served with a notice. Don't know what I'm going to do yet. Next step would be to get monitoring equipment installed if I wanted to go down that route. Good luck with your exam It's not raining at the mo, so I've walked the dogs, swept the patio/driveway and fenced off the bog lawn. It needs cutting but is way too soggy to do that and I want to chuck down some grass seed as Monty says September is the best time to do so. Once I chuck grass seed down I can't mow for a couple of weeks so I'll see if it dries out enough over the next few days and if not then I'll chuck grass seed down anyway. I am going to chop down the climbing rose at the side of the garage in spring so am looking for a nice shrub to put there. Off to my favourite plant finder on www.crocus.co.uk (any excuse to look for more plants ). Edited September 18, 2011 by merledogs
JulesB
I'm not sure if I've previously said but my mum had another stroke as an effect of the brain op 3 or 4 weeks ago. She's making slow but good progress and was moved to a third hospital last night. Hopefully the intensive physio and specialist care will have her up and about soon. My Dad has been unwell this week too, so I waited with him for the out of hours doctor until the early hours one morning. He seems to be back in full control freak mode as of yesterday though I'm so sorry your mum's had a setback Karen, but I'm glad to hear she's making some progress, and that your Dad's feeling better
merledogs
Morning Restless night again, probably because I've got my interim appraisal today, which I am not looking forward to. Wibble wibble
eve
Good luck with your appraisal Alex. I'm grateful I don't have to have or do any of those any more. Sad about the puppies who died Owl, but pleased that mum and one pup are doing well. Sorry to hear about the hammy Sandra. Hope the mock exam went well Michelle. Thank you for all the good thoughts for my son's fiancee. She was let home last night and blood tests were clear. We're going up to Scotland next weekend for a week to spend some time with them. Will be nice to go "home" for a while too.
suzeanna
I hope your mum continues to improve Karen, and that your son's fiancee can see someone to help her with whatever is causing her such mental pain Eve. Glad at least one pup survived Owl, the little mum was lucky you knew someone who could get them out. Just a random thought...some of the travellers at Dale Farm have been there for a decade. Erm...so they aren't travellers then are they? They could always travel back to Ireland to the £400k houses that they own there but maybe they get motion sickness? merledogs
My appraisal was awful. Because I'm really hormonal I burst out crying about ten minutes in and carried on until the end of the meeting so didn't put my case across very well, although to an extent I felt like it was a foregone conclusion anyway. I did argue my case but my arguments were not met with any sympathy. Apparently having my professional qualification makes zilch difference, so don't know why I bothered really Feel really deflated.
