Julys Get It Out There

Oh that's good Griff about the insurance.

Ruby is fuming. The Newcastle surgeon's secretary has just rung her to say he is going to be away on holiday and the first available surgery date he has is for August 2nd! We had hoped she would have gone in this week! He wants to see her before he goes on holiday and she's been given an evening appointment next week.

Omg, Marion, that's awful...is that private too?? I know you said there was only one local private specialist but if she is going to be treated in Newcastle... just wondering if there is somebody else who can operate sooner? Surely he must have known he had holiday arranged at the consultation

Last week's consultation was with the urologist Griff who she saw privately the day after the CAT scan. Her NHS appointment to see him wasn't until yesterday so we thought she'd got ahead of the game by going the private route. He was the one that then referred the case to the surgeon in Newcastle. And yes the surgery is being done privately. Goodness knows what the wait would be with the NHS - except you'd imagine that they'd have back-up surgeons to cover where it doesn't seem to be the case going the private route.

The only thing we are thinking now is that because they didn't have her in this week they are confident that it can wait and she's in no danger of this thing getting bigger or spreading in the time between now and the surgery.

I don't think they would leave it if they were very worried so I think that's a good sign.

Have my pooch back, it's her saliva gland that's the problem...they have sent the fluid off and she may require surgery if the antibiotics and steroids don't clear it..£330 for today but they did note low white cells in her pre ga blood test but I am happy it's not her lymph node

Thank you Griff, I hadn't forgotten but it was lovely to get your reminder. I thought that some of the Croatian players were thugs, not quite as bad as the Colombians but getting there. This is the first time I have watched football in years and I've been taken aback at the fouling, holding, diving and subsequent play acting. It spoils the game and the PTB should stamp it out.

Ruby was due to go and meet some friends and help man her pencil society stall at an art event from yesterday until Sunday. She cancelled her trip thinking that something would be happening in regard to her surgery so when she got yesterday's news she said "sod it, I am going to go anyway" and managed to book a hotel from today until Saturday. They had been calling her yesterday to update her on what was happening and she didn't tell them she was turning up today. I put one of our comfy reclining garden chairs in the car for her so she can sit comfortably at the event as she finds standing difficult for longer periods. I've told her no lifting and no overdoing it. She really only went to take her mind off things and I am sure her fellow committee members and friends will make sure she does take it easy. I packed her up with a sandwich, fruit and a lot of water for the journey down to near Nottingham and she has taken a few of her chocs.

So Archie and I are home alone. What can we get up to I wonder?

Ah well, tis allez les bleu from now on. Going to France this weekend so will be interesting to see what celebrations there will be if France win the World Cup. Probably none in my little village lol.

Yantan, I agree with Griff - I'm sure they wouldn't delay the operation if there was a chance of it spreading much in the next few weeks. How frustrating for Ruby though when she'd geared herself up for surgery next week. I imagine she just wants it over and done with now she knows what she's dealing with. Good for her going to the art event. Hopefully will take her mind off it and she can just be 'normal' for a few days. Hope you and Archie get up to plenty mischief while she's away lol.

Really humid and muggy here. I am still aching from a nasty fall on pavement on Sunday while tracking on a big housing estate near Lincoln. Not much surface damage as I always wear good jeans and long sleeves when tracking in case we end up going through nettles, but everything just got jarred very hard. Then yesterday we had a little gathering in my home village to mark installation of a bench with plaque which sister and I gave to the village in memory of parents. It was a bit stressful and I felt awkward as my mum and stepdad were wonderful people and did lots for the village. I did not get on very well with them and was a big disappointment especially to my mum, so when everyone else is singing their praises I end up feeling I must be a crap person for not getting on with them. But I was only young and it was not all my fault.

Owl take it easy after that fall. We don't bounce as well as we get older and things hurt more. You are not a disappointment to us :flowers: You do so much good in this world.

Eve I will be cheering France on as I didn't like how Croatia played last night. I have French ancestors anyway although this is going back many generations but it is a link, however tenuous. Viens la France!

Oh last night when England scored I jumped up with a "yeeeeeeeeeeeessssssssssssss" forgetting my mobile was on my knee. I sent it flying and tried to block its fall with my leg which just resulted in it flying up to hit me in the nose and giving me a nose bleed.
