Archie has just had his rump steak cooked medium rare and thoroughly enjoyed it. He keeps going back to his dish to lick it in case he missed a bit!

There's another piece in the Daily Mail today about the missing dog and lamb with some lovely photos of Owl and Wispa :wub_anim:

Lol...bless Archie

Just heard some really disturbing news, there is a lad who is disabled, lives round here, has a GSD and we hadn't seen him for a bit...my mate stopped me today and said what about that fella with the gsd...i thought she was going to say he was had up for cruelty as the dogs coat was terribly matted, used to upset Steve, especially after he lost Max, said he wanted the fellas dog...anyhoo, he has been locked up for watching child porn...very sick stuff!!! nobody seems to know what has happened to the dog, i am hoping he hasn't been PTS feel proper sick! just goes to show, you can never tell

Yep you never can tell Griff. I have worked with someone who got sent down for having really hard core paedophilia content on his PC. I was really shocked as I often used to have a laugh and a joke with him and he was just so jolly and normal. Another bloke I worked with was done for armed robbery of a bank. I hope that fella's dog is safe and well somewhere.

Well the sun got out late afternoon so Archie did get to lie out after all.

Yes, it is very unnerving when you find someone you know is addicted to something so awful.

Wispa had a rest day and I did a transport run. Finlay took over from where we stopped last night, and found lots of fresh scent with pawprints and ickle tiny hoofprints where they had been drinking at edge of lake. Also sleeping places with hair etc.

ITN are meeting us at 11 am. I don't like being on TV but as they put up a reward I feel I should be helpful. I prefer being on radio, much more friendly and relaxed. I do hope we can get the fugitives asap, not only because they need to be home but because I hope to sink back into relative obscurity. The positive side is that no one now thinks I am an idiot for thinking dogs can track other dogs.

Owl, thanks for the link, will have a read in a mo!! i would never think anyone mad for thinking a dog could find another dog...animals are utterly amazing and we don't give them anywhere near the credit they deserve

Yantan...i too hope the dog has gone somewhere decent...someone who will look after that what could be beautiful coat!

I've always believed a dog could track and find another. When our Kim, a Parson JRT, went missing in a heavily wooded area our Jerry, a JRT, located her. My grandad suspected she'd gone down a rabbit hole and she had indeed but Jerry found the EXACT place where she'd got stuck. It was only under a tarmac country road! We had to get a road gang out from the local council to dig the road up. Jerry marked the spot by circling and jumping off his two front legs with the occasional "woof" . If it hadn't been for him we'd have lost Kim and she would have had an awful death. As it was she was stuck down there for about 36 hours and couldn't move out of the tucked up position she was found in. My grandad bathed her in nice warm water and she gradually "unknotted".

Archie used to let me know when George was going to have a seizure which gave me time to get George in a safe place so he didn't get hurt when he thrashed about.

I think what Owl and Wispa and their friend Isabel and her dog are wonderful for doing what they do.

That is an amazing story about Kim. And well done little Mouse.

I am like a dead owl walking, as we had a 2 hour session filing with ITN people. Just a cameraman, and Alice Beer who does various things but mostly consumer investigations, and used to be on Watchdog. She is a sweetie. Wispa got a bit fed up while Alice was interviewing me in woodland and hogtied the cameraman with her long line, but we disentangled him before he went face first into the brambles. I don't know when it is going to be broadcast, but no doubt someone will tell me and I will find it online.

Then Wispa and I went to the reserve to unwind and she had a good run and a splash in the stream.

Tomorrow rain is forecast all day. It is much needed, everything far too dry here. We are going to do as little as possible.

The problem with dealing with the media and indeed the public in general is that they want a happy ending asap. This would be great, but catching a dog can be a long term campaign, especially with sky high rhodos, thick brambles, and nettles taller than me. I am consulting master trapper Ray Dedicoat from Birmingham, who is a great one for ingenious plans. We can't use a baited trap for the dog as the lamb would follow him in and get squashed by the falling trapdoor.
