September's Stonking Stirrings

I remember when my step-mum was diagnosed with a terminal illness. She asked the specialist to give it to her straight, she wanted to know how much time she had left because she wanted to make a bucket list. His words to her sum up what I feel.

"I haven't seen it written up in any medical journal yet but in my 20 years plus of doing this job I have learned that a patient with a positive attitude can turn days into weeks, weeks into months and even months into years"

A positive attitude can make all the difference. You have such a positive attitude Griff and I admire you for that :GroupHug:

Suzeanna my friend has been on a cruise to the fjords and she had a fantastic time. Go next year!

Have they got photographic proof it was your car Alex? A couple of years ago my son got a letter from the Police, saying a woman had complained that he nearly ran her and her pushchair down on a pedestrian crossing..she gave his number plate and the time it happened. Luckily for him, he had a receipt from Tesco showing he was in a shop six miles away at the time..she either got the number wrong, or his plate had been cloned. The cops muttered and moaned but in the end he heard no more about it.

Snap Alex. That's what I got my first ever points for back in 2004. You have to tell your insurance company and it will likely put your premium up but if I recall correctly mine only went up by about £20. I never jump lights now, even if I have been waiting for a long time but I get really annoyed at the number of motorists who do - it's usually a case of following the stream through temporary lights long after the lights have changed to red.

Griff if things change and you could travel we would so like to have you come visit us :)

I have had the maddest of mad weeks , a team from Soi Dog in Thailand have been with me this week to learn how we catch and handle street dogs with a trainer from the Dogs Trust , I am still getting my head around the fact that Soi Dog have come to us for training !!! they are HUGE and we are tiny tiny tiny

Today I went to to my head vets private kennels , he has a dog that police brought in after he was discovered in a house with his owners who had all been murdered and the dog was trapped in the house with the bodies for a week :( the dog is a large rottie and was very shut down , traumatised no one could handle him ( or get near him ) . I spent about an hour on and off with him in the kennels and got him eating from my hand and was able to stroke him and he gave a huge sigh , relaxed and he leant into me ( which my rottie does ) we were then able to get one of the kennel staff to touch him as well so small steps but a good start.

The kennel staff were laughing because at one point I was singing to him and I can't sing for toffee !

Merledogs, you are doing very well...my dad has been on 2 speed awareness courses, the last time was my fault, he dropped me off at the undertakers to go and check his mum looked better than she did when she died... he was heading back to work and he put his toe down a bit, the road was clear but a van parked where it couldn't be seen had him

Yantan, thanks... i have my positive attitude thanks to my nan, i watched her battle cancer twice and her little sister about 5 times, both have done it with grace and laughter and no complaints. I was always brought up not to moan about things, i do try my very best not to, i have no intention of going anywhere just yet.... i have 2 dogs who still need me!

HLGS, wow, that poor poor dog, how awful for him to lose his family like that. I am very very pleased that he has decided to trust you and as for singing............no one and i mean no one can be as bad as me Lol

if i am ever up to travelling i will come and see you all

hmmm uploading music, the only way i could perhaps think of doing it is play the song and record it as a video clip and upload it to say photobucket youtube or something like that.

I meant to ask how is the little boy doing? and his mum of course

Done my good deed for the day, painted my old fence posts in gloss, some ladies have cleared a piece of land near their houses and have planted bulbs etc, all paid for out of their own pockets...tonnes and tonnes of topsoil and the rotten s*ds are just driving on it, my dad said he will cut down the fence posts into bollards for them...however him saying and doing are 2 different things Lol...hopefully now they have had a coat of paint he will decide to chop them up

Another 8 weeks approx before I move, according to estate agent who is very good at keeping me updated. My buyers got married and went on a lengthy honeymoon. Their buyers also went on hols. At least now both lots have signed their mortgage agreements.

I am relieved as it gives me more time to get ready. All through the summer I felt too tired to do much, but I am a lot better now.

Thank you Griff. There has been nothing wrong with me except too much happening in the past 10 months. Battle to get Auntie into hospice, Auntie dying, huge uproar as her horrid stepson who inherited the house tried to force entry immediately to seize valuable contents left to my cousins. Funeral with all kinds of undercurrents and people not speaking to each other.

Then 5 weeks after Auntie went, Mum went to join her. Another funeral with loads of people, then a ton of paperwork for probate. Clearing the house and loft, selling the house, deciding where to live.

Amidst all this, my former good friend who first found me somewhere to live up here was arrested last November and has been in and out of court until finally, and deservedly, sentenced to 6 yrs of which 3 has to be served in jail and 3 in hostel with tag. She was a major career fraudster and on the UK most wanted list. Helped herself to half a million to fund her gambling habit, and nearly half of that came from one lady who runs a rescue where this evil being got herself installed as treasurer. The rescue lady sold her house to buy a smaller one and foolishly let the evil one get her hands on the proceeds.

The only reason she was friendly with me, and frankly she was a bit suffocating, is that she saw me as her favourite kind of target. She goes for older single women with no family who may inherit a house, and tries to isolate them from their friends and get them completely dependent on her. At the same time she was working on me, she was making the most appalling accusations against me to others. Luckily no one believed her. If they had done I would have been ostracized.

If it had not been for the determination of one particular Fraud Squad officer, she would have got away with it. There are still people who support her cause and think she is innocent, such is her ability to persuade people.

On reading back all the above, and considering it happened in less than a year, I believe my tiredness is the logical outcome.
