Blurrrgggg why did I think an 8am appointment at the eye hospital was a good idea? I am really hoping I dont have to go through a repeat of all the previous tests I've had at the general hospital though I suspect I will, have prepared a list of questions about the surgery options so at least by the time I get back I should be clearer in my head about what is going to happen and when.

Phebe, you can't possibly drive almost 30 miles every evening, especially when you are already shattered! Apart from the time and energy commitment, the cost isn't insignificant now either.

Could your mum's GP help come up with a solution for at least sharing some of your mum's care? I know she's not keen on the carers but it sounds like those eye drops are really important.

Phebe, I hope you can sort something out so your mum gets her drops in.

Feeling so very sad for Nigel this morning :mecry:

Me too, to both of the above :GroupHug:

RMF : Someone in the office is doing a breakfast run, so they will all be munching on bacon and sausage and egg sarnies while I've had two BelVitas and a chicken breast for my breakfast.

RMF 1: I got into a pair of jeans this morning which hadn't fitted me for ages

RMF 2: I challenged Scottish Power cos they had my gas meter down as being Imperial and were overcharging me. I went through exactly the same thing with EDF and it was fairly simple then, but I've had to jump through bluddy hoops to get SP to change it and it's taken me from 25th November until a couple of days ago for them to action it  The result is that they have been charging me (on dual fuel) approx £95 a month  when in fact the cost for both is more like £55 a month, so almost double. At least it's sorted now and my account is slightly in credit after the cold weather we've had for several months, so by the end of summer I will hopefully be more in credit and they can give me some money back and change my monthly payment.

so sad about Archie :mecry:

Owl, i agree it is too much for you to do a 28 mile round trip to make sure you mum gets her eye drops put in..... does it have to be done at night time? as i was thinking it is probably easier to get help during the day (i know nothing about glaucoma so have no idea if it matters if they go in in the morning or not) i think it is disgusting that the dr wouldn't listen to you, especially as your mum was a bit confused

well done merledogs on fitting into your jeans

snow good luck with you appointment :flowers:

jules b i hope you find your cats wee

and for anyone i have missed :GroupHug:

i saw the specialist about my ear on wednesday... i got to see the decent doctor and have told him i would rather see him now, i told him i couldn't stand the other fella  i have been told that i may never get my hearing back fully :mecry: but at least this fella hasn't just sent me away he is trying to sort me out  and he listens to what i have to say unlike the other who just sighs and shakes his head

So sorry Nige :flowers:

Apologies in advance for any weird spelling mistakes or typos etc my eyes are still fully dilated and blurry from the drops they used this morning which were different to ones I've had previously and will take a lot longer to wear off.

Right well my eye thing ... lemme tell ya when a consultant tells you completely out of the blue "oh you have a tumor in your right eye" it's most bloody unsettling to say the ruddy least  especially as thats the first time anyone's said it or suggested it and remember I have had the same flipping tests that i had today last year and then again only a couple of weeks ago at the general hospital and not a single mention of a tumor or any issue with my right eye was ever made - trust me you do NOT forget or mistake summat like that! Thankfully he followed it immediately with "don't worry it's benign" he then said a bit more about it but I couldn't really understand what he said due to his accent and the sound of the blood roaring in my ears and my brain screaming OMG TUMOR!!!!!!!! TBH I'm still trying to process that and still feeling a bit fecking unsettled and upset even though it is apparently "benign" I guess I'm finding it hard to understand how he could possibly know that just from looking at it ...though he's the consultant surgeon and I'm nowt so I guess he probably would know ...

This guy also feels that the risk is very high for my left eye surgery ... much higher than I was led to believe by the other surgeon  my "retinal tear" isn't a single small tear it's a series of thin patches in the retina pretty much guaranteed to detach at some time or another could happen today could happen in 10 years but its probably gonna happen one day *sighs* oh deep joy ... and because of that he wouldnt recommend me having the right eye done privately unless I had to have it done for medical reasons.

Add to that he says that because of my astigmatism he doubts very much that he can totally correct the sight in my left eye even for distance so I WILL still need to wear contact lenses in BOTH eyes - that was the most disappointing news I was given today I was really really really looking forward to having at least one eye with perfect vision.

And to top the whole thing off - my interocular pressure is high which might indicate glaucoma on the other hand my blood pressure was sky high (no fecking kidding sherlock!!) and that could give a false reading.

Thats it though feck it I've booked to see my GP sod this trying to avoid blood pressure pills and "monitoring" I want pills as many as he wants to give me and I will be a good girl and I will finally agree to take the damned things.

I'm also booked to see my optician tomorrow to discuss post surgery options for contact lenses/glasses.

Snow is not the happiest bunny on the planet today by a long shot ...
