merledogs
RMF: Being forced to go to an awards do tonight. Debating whether to just brush the smell of horse out of my hair and ram myself into tights and frock, or have another shower, shave my legs and all that flipping malarkey. I don't even want to go but the boss makes me as she knows how much I hate it. AND I'll be missing corrie Hope you enjoyed yourself despite it all Hope you feel better soon Marge I had to go to our team Christmas do last night - just a meal in a Chinese in Manchester. I did enjoy myself and we laughed so much I nearly weed myself several times, but I am knackered tihs morning, even though I was home by 10 and only drank water. My lurgy was almost gone as well but seems to have returned. There was a homeless man outside in a doorway, with his dog called Meldrum. We had a banquet and there was way too much food for us, so every time we finished a course, I got them to put it in doggy bags and I took it out to him. Me and another colleague between us gave him enough to go to a hostel for the night - poor bloke, he was getting soaked as it rained all night. Made me really think about the contrast between all those shovelling food down their gobs in the restaurant when there are people who don't even have a roof over their heads. RMF : All the snow and ice has gone
Helly
morning. I think I timed my 2 weeks in egypt perfectly It snowed just after I left and melted as I came home. Melted or not tho, its a hell of a shock to the system to go from 33 degrees to zero so Im currently still dressed up like an eskimo and shivering

Clare
Morning all Don't venture in here often but very quiet at work today so endulging in some internet sciving My mum went to our local rescue yesterday to drop off some blankets and called me in a state saying they had a "George" in the kennels, George was our golden retriever failed foster who went to the bridge two years ago and we still feel the hole he left, especially at this time of year as it would have been his gotcha day next week. Mum is desperate for another GR and says its all that keeps her going (we have had a horrible year) but both her and dad are older and dad's health is not good, so taking on a completely unknown dog really isn't sensible. I am sure he will find a good home but the place he is at isn't the best, kind of pay your money take your dog Hope he is luckly and finds a good home. I have contacted those people with GRs on Doglost in the south east but not a lot more I can do really
murtle
Aw Clare that is sad, have they considered longterm fostering of a dog that can't be rehomed? I need to learn to count to 10 - things can't be perfect or we'd all be bored...
kittycat
I was expecting to be in work today but I don't have a shift until Wednesday! I never thought I'd say this but I'm bored I've been off since last Friday and if I ever find another job I will not be signing a zero hour contract ever again!! What am I supposed to do until Wednesday! :s
merledogs
You could always come and do my job Steph, and then go to the study centre Saturday/Sunday for me, am happy to oblige I'm having one of those days today when the studying is getting on top of me - it just seems to be relentless. I am going to leave shortly - my director's gone off to his son's play and I'm the only one here. I need to do some food shopping before the weekend, so will shoot off shortly and have a good nap when I get home. I haven't watched last night's Corrie yet, so can catch up on that before tonight's episode.

Mags
Hope you both feel better soon Marge Alex, hope you feel better soon too. You and your colleague are very kind and you should be rewarded with, at least, good health Welcome home Di. How are the renovations coming along? Our snow is nearly gone too. No harm, I'm a bit sick of it now and got all the photos I wanted Must stick up another couple. Hubby wants to buy me a new printer for Christmas as my one is useless for photos but I don't know what to get. Good excuse to start a new thread

Trudi
I have survived day 1 of 4 being home alone - I have wrapped up pressies, good luck to those trying to get into them Christmas morning as I used a whole roll of sellotape I can confirm that when putting spuds onto boil it is a good idea to check you have turned on the correct ring or your chicken will be all cooked and crispy and your spuds and peas will be hard and cold

owl
We went tracking and are the worse for wear. RMF It is not a good idea to take an Escort up an icy farm track only suited to Jeeps. But we found a scent nicely frozen into snow and know that Harriet the lurcher got clean away from the bypass and back into her home village. Where she is now is another question. RMF : All the snow and ice has gone Now THAT is a real Christmas story. It would be patronising to keep telling you well done because you didnt do it for you. You did it for him and Meldum. If everyone helped just one person then the knock on effect would change the world in all its desperation. You just built the first block and I applaud you.
