billydog
One day this will all be a distant memory and I will hopefully have my happy, bouncy girl back Yes you will!!! I'm sorry she's not right yet - it took Bill a couple of days to get back to normal after he had his anaesthetic when he hurt his leg. Hope her sore bits get unsore soon. I wish there was something more practical I could do but for now have big for you all.
Jacobean
Aw bless her. Hopefully she will just sleep it off. Hope she's not too sore and the op can go ahead quickly for her.
Anne Grose
Sarah, I am sorry that Flora is feeling so sore. The same thing happened when Barty had his xrays done by the specialist, they have to manipulate the hips to get them in the right position to be able to see and then do the measurements, but in doing so they really make the dogs sore. The good news is that it doesn't take more than 3/4 days for the pain and stiffness to abate. Have you tried Grapefruit Seed Extract in water to gently bathe Flora's skin, it has worked beautifully for the nasty infected tail that Chloe got as a result of a nasty insect bite she got in France last year and it has taken all the redness and soreness out of a nasty graze Ellie got two days ago running into a branch. Love and hugs as always
safneo
Sarah, have you given Flora any arnica for her sore joints? It worked well when Saffy had her HD xrays and was sore, though I did give her some before too. Hopefully she will be feeling better in the next day or two. dirtychicken
I've not given her any arnica, Andrea, purely because I wasn't sure whether it would mess with the Tramadol Flora's vet has been on holiday this week, but I'm planning to go and see her next week to discuss her opinion on homeopathy and to find out what would be ok to use with her Anne - I really need to get Grapefruit Seed Extract in for Sophie's recurring bouts of threadworm but didn't know that it was good for skin conditions as well The aloe vera gel has been working wonders and everything seems to have calmed down a lot. Stunningly, Flora was feeling much more spritely this morning than I have seen her in a very long time She spent a good 15 minutes wrestling with Bran before taking refuge behind my legs (she tends to hide with me and ask me to tell him to stop playing with her rather than telling him herself ). Sophie then spent some time playing with Bran and his squeaky tennis ball in the hallway (as he was still full of beans!) and Flora just couldn't contain herself and had to join in for a while too She has spent the rest of the day mostly sleeping and has happily watched as Bran has been entertained as much as possible to avoid the norty chewing-up-of-precious-things-through-boredom event which occurred yesterday. The report didn't arrive today and there appears to be no indication on the Langford system that it has been posted out yet so I'll give it a few days into next week before chasing up. Nettie
Glad Flora is feeling better than yesterday, and yes I'm sure this time will soon be a distant memory and she'll be happily running around.
dirtychicken
I forgot to say that the crate sized piece of memory foam that I bought on ebay arrived yesterday. It is much bigger and thicker than I expected it to be and is very comfy-looking and supportive
Yantan
I forgot to say that the crate sized piece of memory foam that I bought on ebay arrived yesterday. It is much bigger and thicker than I expected it to be and is very comfy-looking and supportive George has a memory foam mattress that he sleeps on at night. He makes little happy grunting noises as he settles himself in. The only thing to watch is that they get quite warm to lie on ( I have one myself so know this first hand!) It's been a brilliant buy and I hope Flora enjoys hers as much as my boy does his
dirtychicken
Thank you for that piece of advice, Marion I'll keep an eye on it but, to be honest, Flora gets very cold very easily so it might be the best solution all round I've organised the crate today with duvets tied to the sides and back so that if she bumps into them then she won't hurt herself. The magnetic therapy box is at the very bottom of the crate (on a thin duvet and she had her first session today, Georgina ), with another duvet on top of it and then the memory foam in a handstitched cover. I'm not sure if they like it What do you think? Sophie couldn't resist trying it out either My beautiful girl

dirtychicken
Flora's face is an absolute picture She wasn't terribly impressed that they were hogging HER crate, Nige Amy - we've had to amend the "no collars in the house" rule to accommodate her new tag, but have to keep an eye on her if she's feeling up to wrestling and either stop her from dragging Bran around by his collar or whip it off of him quick smart It does look beautiful though Something obviously worked during yesterday/last night because Flo woke up absolutely full of beans this morning and did a marvellous kangaroo impression for a while
