blackmagic
Yantan, could you call environmental health to track down the source of the smell? We had heavy rain at 7am this morning but sunny and windy since although it is clouding over with grey clouds now. But it is colder today than it has been. It is supposed to be sunny and dry next week. We appear to have a baby red legged partridge in the garden. It comes out from under a large rhododendron bush and sunbathes while preening its fluffy feathers. When the sun goes in so does it. It looks like a miniature partridge with fluffy feathers. We do have an adult pair that come and feed in the garden every day. The dogs step over them when they are in the way.
owl
That is very early in the year to have a baby partridge, isn't it?
owl
Snail has still not eaten but keeps moving around the tank then sleeping some more. Not much I can do as it is very old, about 14 now, and may be ready to shuffle off.
griff
Yantan, what about an air purifier thing?? they get rid of odours don't they..not just mask them Owl...that is a very good age for a snail! i do hope it either improves or passes peacefully Saw my consultant yesterday, we had discussed lowering my treatment last time but he refused...i trust him so will go with what he says, i may need another little op on my bladder as my urine tests weren't great, we have decided to wait and see if it sorts itself but i now have to add regular urine tests into my schedule. I was in hysterics at him, i said one of the medications he put me on made me a raging psycho...he turned round and said "what more than usual" he apologised immediately but said he couldn't resist...i love that side of things with him...i love being able to have a laugh. He was terrific and helped me find a new gp, i said the 2 at the practice are crap so he got straight on the internet and looked at which one of the 2 would be best suited to my condition, he was appalled that they refused me antibiotics when i had a chest infection,he said i am very complicated, on a lot of strong drugs with no immune system and if i leave an infection untreated it could kill me, he said i must make it plain to them my situation...i did tell the Dr what i had but he just went "oh" refused the medication and i ended up at the walk in centre with all the germs 2 days later....he was not a happy bunny!!! suzeanna
That GP sounds useless Griff, good that your consultant is so nice. I was at clinic today, they couldn't get all of the tumour out so I have to see an oncologist to discuss what they can do. We had a laugh too, there's no use crying about these things is there? Out for a thai meal tonight with my daughter and her husband before they go off to Greece tomorrow until October.
griff
Suzeanna, I really hope they come up with a good plan for you xx Yep, no point in crying...I have laughed from the beginning (he thought I was slow the first time we met... now he knows I am just a bit cracked lol) and will continue to laugh about it
Yantan
A positive attitude can make all the difference. Griff and Suzeanna have the best Re: The Pong. There is no guarantee that the council pest control people can find the source of the smell and all they will do is set traps/bait and come back to check if they've caught anything and remove it. And it's pretty costly. I think if the pong hasn't gone soon we'd prefer to get a company in that has a better chance of locating the source with specialist equipment. I've read it can take anything from 10 days to 6 weeks for the smell to subside. We're almost at 2 weeks now and I don't think we can go another 4 weeks! blackmagic
I would have thought it was early for a baby partridge but I don't know what else it would be. We did have about 10 days of very warm weather at the beginning of April which may have fooled them. The babies move away from the nest soon after birth. That is what it looked like, We have two robins feeding at the window feeder. One is putting food into the beak of the other, which then flies off. I have not seen that behaviour before unless it is an adult feeding a baby but this looks like two adults. I wondered of the one flying off was feeding young in the nest. We did find a pheasant egg lying in the garden three weeks ago. W e had -1 degree last night. Today started wet but has dried up but it is still very cloudy and not very warm. Yesterday was solid, heavy rain.

owl
Adult robins in my garden have been feeding each other bits of suet. I think it is courting and bonding behaviour.
