  4. Hoping Tyler is recovering well after the op, sending lots of healing thoughts for him and for both him and his foster mum.
  5. So sorry for your loss Run free Roxy. A friend of mine has a couple of necklaces containing her dogs ashes, the company was American, found on the internet. I could ask her for the details if you are interested.
  6. Smudge is in his second casket now as the first one was damaged in the house fire. That gave me an opportunity to put some things in his casket with him, something I didn't think of at the time. I also kept a small amount to put in a necklace, again something I didn't think of at the time. He is in our bedroom with one of his favourite toys sitting on his casket and photograph next to it. I also have a box with lots of bits and bobs, collar, bandanas and photos that the casket sits on. He will go with me when the time comes. Also OH's parents bought me a rose called 'Remember Me' which is planted in a tub so we can take it with us if we ever move.
  7. What a fab pic. Good luck in your new home Squeak
  8. Hi Ranirottie, I'm in Redbourn, Herts....usually. We had a house fire in June so am currently just down the road from you in Radlett. I homecheck for the Oldies Club and am willing to help with transport except every time there's something in this area I can't help Debs.

    Elsa

I did the homecheck for Sue and Adam and knew that Elsa would be thoroughly spoilt, pampered and loved with them. When I went to do the follow up homecheck earlier this year it was obvious that Sue & Adam were totally besotted with Elsa and that she was so so happy with them. I am pleased I helped Elsa to find such a wonderful forever home. to Sue and Adam. Run free at the Bridge sweet Elsa ...say hi to Smudge and Wiccaweys Super Sheppy in the Summerlands. Debs x

  15. I can't say anything to ease the pain you are feeling but am sending and thinking of you. Ice was a beautiful dog, the pictures are wonderful, he obviously had a wonderful life with you Treasure your memories of him and take comfort in the fact that you did your best for him and he's now free from pain.
  16. Happy Gotcha Day Ruby Yesterday was Jasper's first year anniv. gotcha day too. Doesn't seem like a year in some respects and yet in others seems longer !! She looks wonderful Cindy...what a lucky girl she is.
  17. I don't know where you get other emoticons from (blonde) these really don't do justice to my feelingsand I can't post more!
  18. Just seen this thread and although we are with NPower and changed from seeboard to go with them we've not had probs but the other day I was approached by a salesman in Sainsburys who said they are cheaper than NPower. Money off for paying gas & elec by dd and nectar points and cheaper if you do your own meter readings and post them online. Apart from the nectar points I think most companies offer discounts for dd and online accounting.
  19. He looks to be having a ball my last dog Smudge loved the beach and the sea, we've yet to take Jasper but hopefully some time this sunny summer!!
  20. I know this thread is about oldies insurance and Jasper is only 4 but I have been reading with interest as insurance in general seems to be a bit of a minefield and someone has said they'd not heard good things about E&L which has got me a bit concerned. Jasper is insured with 'animal friends', E&L are the underwriters. I was lured by the claim that they help alot of animal charities and that the cover they give is for life ie. Jasper's cover gives £4000 per condition per year for life and they also cover complimentary medicines/therapies. I am due for renewal shortly so will be trailing through the bog that is Animal Insurance and would appreciate any advice from anyone or would like to hear from anyone with experience of 'animal friends' as we've only had Jasper coming up for a year and thankfully not had to claim! If anyone can help...many thanks Debs.
  21. Hi everyone, my name is Debbie and i've not been a member of the oldies very long and this is my first post...2nd attempt at posting actually!! I hail from Lancashire but now reside in Redbourn, Hertfordshire with OH, H. My initiation into the world of dog rescue began 11 years ago when I adopted a beautiful border collie, Smudge, from BC rescue..as was..now BC Trust. We had just over 10 years together, sadly he went to the Bridge almost a year ago. On a visit to Dogs Trust at Harefield we found Jasper. He's a 4yr old black & white, one blue eyed BC originally from Scotland, scared of allsorts at first particularly balls, toys and cameras. He is now ball obsessed, likes toys (but not as much as aball) still camera phobic! He's a real sweet boy, loves people+ likes to say hello to other dogs but can't dilly dally if there's a ball around! His vices include chasing rabbits& cats in the field + ignoring all calls and bribes to come back, taking over the sofa/bed and generally being wherever I want to go in the house! I have spoken to Cindy (Staffymad) and am hoping to become an involved volunteer. Would like to take all the Oldies that people overlook (wouldn't we all??!!) but can't until we win the lottery...tomorrow's Saturday...here's hoping!
