    Elsa

I received the following email yesterday from Sue who adopted Elsa from the Oldies Club and I thought people who remembered her would like to know. Have put it here so people see it but if the mods want to move it to rainbow Bridge then please do so. Sorry I haven't been on here in ages and sorry to come on with bad news. Here's Sue's email. I am really sad to tell you but Elsa was taken ill in the early hours of Thursday morning and had to be put to sleep. Apparently she was bleeding internally and the vets think that she had a tumour on her spleen. She had had a lovely evening before and was playing with her "ball" (yes Claire and Karen – the same battered yellow one she came with & wouldn't be parted with!) right up to bed time. She then woke us at 1.30am to let us know something was wrong and we rushed her to the vets – the end was very peaceful with Adam & I (and her ball) with her. She was almost 15 years of age which is quite incredible and although we only had her for the last nine months, she was very much our world – we are lost without her. She was a very special lady. With regards to you all, and Im sorry to be the bearer of such sad news, Sue These 2 photos were taken when she was with me. I feel so privileged to have been a part of this special girls life after she had to leave her dad because he needed to go into an old people home to be looked after himself and to have been the one who handed her over to Sue knowing she was going to be throughly loved and spoilt until the end of her days. Run free Elsa my sweetheart............I am sure there will be a never ending supply of those yellow balls there at the Bridge. xxx
  2. Well I was lucky enough (thank you Liz) to have an overnight visitor last night before she went off to her forever home this evening. She was a complete angel and went off with her new mum this evening very happily She is going to be totally spoilt............which is just the way it should be So these piccies are for Claire and Babs..........................this was on her walk this morning. Here's Elsa You spingers always have your nose in the grass so I'll have a look too!!!
  3. So pleased to hear that this all worked out ok.............................and definately glad to hear that he was curled up with Burt at the side of your bed

    Oscar

I picked this little fella up this morning and transported him to Milton keynes. He was so cute, lots of waggy tails when I went into his house at the ungodly hour of 6.30 and he got woke up Fantastic in the car, just got onto the back seat, attached his lead to a seat belt and away we went and in 5mins he was asleep and slept the rest of the way I will be amazed if he is in foster for very long. Unfortunately I forgot to take any photos so will look forward to seeing Oscar again when some get posted.
  6. Hmmmmmmmmmmmm and didn't she almost snaffle one that she helped to transport for you Selina ** Goes off singing Cindy's gonna end up with a springer Cindy's got the buuhug la la la la lala**
  7. Beacuse we have an addition to the family Meet Lily..........orignally called Precious. I collected her on Sunday and although she is a very scared and nervous dog she is settling in well Jenny is just looking at her as if to say "oh another one" but is taking more interest in her as the days go by. Normally Jenny start to play once they have been here 4/5 days so by the weekend that should have started providing Lily is up for it Lily's story is very sad but with a brilliant ending so rather than go on I am just going to put a link in so you can read it yourself. Precious Now renamed Lily Like Jenny when she was found she had got 8 pups with ther, all of which have been rehomed. All I can say is that when I saw her photo I knew I had got to bring her to stay with me. It ws just a gut instinct, the same as with Jenny, and now she is here I am so very glad she is So unfortunately until I have settled her in, which may take a while, I cant foster for a while but Cindy understands Lily and Jenny watching me cook dinner
  8. oooooooooooooooooh Claire she looks great she is such a sweetheart............................Elsa you made my initiation into fostering so very very easy Claire I see she still has her nibbly bit on her leg I used to put plaster on it to stop her nibbling and the little madam used to wait until I was out of the room or not looking and pull them off she used to look at me as if to say "At my age I can do what I jolly well like" Do you think you could cope with 4 springers in your house and Elsa for a day?? Cause I may just have to get in my car and come visit when Simon leaves in a couple of weeks Big big hugs Elsa xxxx
  9. So glad to hear she is fine Claire..........I told you she would remember you She is such an angel.........I loved the time she spent here with us. Give her a big hug from me and a lick from Jenny.
  10. Sorry only just caught up with this as I have been in hospital. Well done to everyone who sorted this. He looks soooooooooooooo lovely
  11. We took Elsa and jenny down by the canal for a walk yesterday. Its very overgrown down there and lots of shaded areas which I thought would be better for Elsa as it was so hot She was as good as gold, not even bothered with the Canada geese with their babies. Just had a look, stopped for a littel watch then carried on with her walk. Loved heading through the long grass and then we came to a break in the grass where she could see the water........................................................................... No, hesitation whatsoever, IN SHE WENT!!!!!! She had a little swim around then I called her to get out..............................now the problems started!!! She went deaf!!! Then turned her back on me Then thought she would try and get out, but her legs kept sinking into the mud. I managed to get her lead onto her collar but couldnt pul her out........................called Simon who came back to me with Jenny. Then Jenny decided to jump in by this time I was roaring but a little worried in case we couldnt get Elsa out . One call from Simon and out she came, had a shake and soaked us, then Jenny got out and did the same!!! So we had 2 wet doggies, who had now cooled down, to transport home in the car Dont you just love em!! Well at least we know now that Elsa likes the water Oh and Elsa is doing fine, have now switched her over to part dry, part wet food and she is really enjoying her food.
  12. Gil big hugs from us all here that is such a moving tribute. Run free at the Bridge Petexxxxxxxxxxxx

    Advice Wanted

Thaks Cindy, can that be bought of the shelf in a supermarket, or does it need to be ordered?
  15. Are there any decent tinned foods on the market ? I feed Jenny on dry food (Arden Grange) and she loves it. Elsa our oldies foster although she is eating it she doesnt seem to be "bothered" about it , where as when they get some cooked meat (chicken, liver, kidneys, mince) mixed in with the dry as an occasional treat, she really enjoys it . Was just wondering about maybe feeding her part dry/part tinned but dont have any knwledge of whats good or bad. Any advice appreciated.
