I knew it was serious when she said "I'm not going to lie to you, you should prepare for bad news" His anaemia is so bad that the vet said his red blood count is barely able to sustain life and she was amazed he was still walking around. It should be between 37 and 55 and Max's is 8.1. His white blood cell count is also very low, all of which indicates that his bone marrow has stopped working, probably a couple of weeks ago. There are a number of things it could be - but his kidneys are perfectly normal which ruled that out. The other options are a viral infection (which she said was unlikely) or else cancerous tumours I have had to leave him in overnight and they are going to try and take some x-rays without anaesthetising him. They also need to take a bone marrow sample and an abdominal scan. They can't do the bone marrow until tomorrow so they don't want to knock him out twice so if they can't take the x-rays without anaesthetic then they will wait until tomorrow and do everything at once. I have to ring back at 10pm tonight for an update. I can't believe he's not home with me, you would never think he was sick to look at him He is a very very poorly boy so please could you send lots of Reiki and positive thoughts.
