owl
That's good, snow. I have never seen my GP but the nurse seems reasonable. As long as I am getting exercise and not stuffing face with fried foods she thinks I am OK. My practice is run mainly via nurse practitioners and nurses, which doesn't suit some people at all as they like the reassurance of seeing a doctor. I like it because I avoid doctors as much as possible. I know it is doctors who are keeping some Fugees alive and I know there are some great ones around, but so many will not listen to patients and act like some kind of priesthood. I am still scared of them having spent too much time being ill as a child. We had pleasant light rain here today and temperature has dropped, but still not taking Wispa anywhere until evening. Quick thinking Jazz, well done! Griff, hope you feel in better spirits soon xx
Jazz
storms on and off here. its my fault. I was stupid enough to tell the rescue my dogs are so easy and its quiet without a foster I see so many doctors, I do tell the ones that are rubbish that they are, especially the one who didn't see a broken arm and the lung specialist that told me there is nothing wrong with them, breathe deeper and lose weight. I said ive just lost 3 stone, he said lose more. he didn't like my answer
Yantan
Well done Snow! Bloody statins made a cripple out of me. I came off them 4 years ago, although the nurse is always trying to get me back on to them I flat out refuse and my GP backs me. Good for you telling the rubbish doc's they are rubbish Jazz. I will fire off at any doctor that has an attitude with me. Most are good, some are very good, a few are excellent but every now and then you run into one that really shouldn't have chosen a different career. Edited July 26, 2019 by Yantan Should not shouldn't!
Jazz
the nasty lung one, I told the other doctors what he said, they just rolled their eyes, said don't worry. so they must know what hes like
suzeanna
I object to doctors (or anyone, really) talking down to me. I resent being treated like a slow 5year old, but some of them seem to think if you don't have medical training, then you can't know anything. I've got a medication review on Tuesday, and if it's the same woman who did Philp's on Wednesday I just know there is going to be a clash. He's had eczema all his life, seen top dermatologists for it and knows all the ointments and creams. She insisted that Betnovate is a milder steroid cream than Eumovate...nope, the other way round! She'll probably tell me I should be taking warfarin, not dispersible aspirin...not to mention the statins. Oh well, bring it on!
Jazz
they might be trained, but we live with it so are the experts
snow
What annoyed me about the statin thing is that she originally didn't tell me my cholesterol results just said they were "a bit high" and that "we'd need to think about starting me on statins" at the time I was overwhelmed with other things she'd told me and frankly just wanted to get the hell out of there and go home and cry so I agreed to another medication (for something else) but started to refuse the statins and she said that was fine as she didn't want to interfere with the new meds and I needed those more. This time she was much more pushy about it and I asked what my results actually were and what they should be so now apparently its all down to ratios and my "bad" cholesterol is 2.2 and it should be 2.1 or lower - thats 0.1% over and shes pushing a statin on me? Plus that was based on my bloods as they were almost 3 months ago before I changed my diet and before my liver tests came back "vastly improved" so I rather suspect I have already lost that 0.1% anyway. I said I wanted to see what they were when they were next done and see how my lifestyle & diet changes were making a difference then I got told that lifestyle changes and diet "don't make enough difference to reduce cholesterol". Excuse me? Thats NOT at all what we are told over and over and over. Moreover my reading has barely changed in 16 years! Last time it was done was just after my 40th birthday and it was 4.0 then and my then Dr was so gobsmacked at how low it was he made me repeat it as obviously a fat person couldn't possibly have a low cholesterol result.
Jazz
I was told it was over 5, they have changed it to 4. why?
snow
She claimed it was all about the ratio's now Jazz good:bad levels but frankly every place I have looked online say my cholesterol readings are fine.

owl
Steady light rain here and temperature dropping. Still very humid. Rain all weekend. Not complaining.
suzeanna
Still no rain here. It'll probably wait until Philip takes Candy for a walk! Just looked at our GP's online service to order something for Philip. It's saying he can't order anything until he's had a medication review..which he had on Wednesday! Efficient? I don't think so. Jazz
takes 2 weeks for the write up to go to the secretary in the same building, to write it up! stupid ay?
owl
Wispa insisted on a walk this evening. So damp and humid that I had perspiration dripping, but Wispa was happy. Got the hang of her new car ramp which is a heavy duty one from Easipets. She needs it as the new car is higher.
