snow Posted November 8, 2014 Report Share Posted November 8, 2014 I forgot to mention that my printed tiles from Hong Kong arrived a couple of days ago without any additional fees and are absolutely lovely, they look a lot more expensive than what they cost me and the frames are real wood rather than plastic wood effect which is what I thought they might be. Wish I'd done a few for myself now lol Had a brainwave last night about what to get Rob for his stocking - he hates almost all cookery programs but really loved the Keith Floyd ones and they've recently been showing them again on Sky and he's been series linking them and watching them all over again so I have got him 4 of the original cookery books Floyd on France, Floyd on Italy, Floyd on Spain and Floyd on USA I'd been looking on ebay but found that Amazon now sell used books as well which are covered by their free delivery thing so all 4 for a tenner delivered - bargain! Jazz Posted November 8, 2014 Report Share Posted November 8, 2014 ive been out 3 times in a month. its a good job I love it here or I really would be stir crazy. my good hand cant cope with supporting the other so is playing up. being on here keeps me sane, but even typing hurts. ill try reading a book. even if they do offer me a place, it has to have the right feel or im not taking it. when ive taken places with bad feelings ive regretted it do you 'know' if a place is right? snow Posted November 8, 2014 Report Share Posted November 8, 2014 Yes definitely Alicia - if the place doesn't feel right I tend to find all sorts of reasons to justify why I don't like it or its not suitable, but if a place feels "like home" I can over look or find ways to work around things that might not be ideal. Griff - Rob won't be using the recipe books for cooking lol but apparently there are all kinds of anecdotes about each place hes been to etc. what will undoubtedly happen is Rob will pick recipes he fancies and get me to make them lol tbh I won't mind that - he's got a bit strange lately I don't mean that in a nasty way, but it is weird lol for some reason his sense of smell is on over drive seriously on over drive its been getting worse and worse he can still smell scents long long longggg after they have gone even scents other people never smelt in the first place! So I have had to stop cooking loads of things because he complains for days and days afterwards he can still smell them or he can smell it on his clothes etc. honestly even his mum has commented to him that he cant possibly be smelling anything but he's adamant he can. Classic example I had some fresh baked bread rolls from the bakery - he went on and on about the smell .... even a week later he was saying he could still smell them but we'd eaten them the same ruddy day I got them a week before! I'm hoping he won't be so bad if he himself chooses a recipe and knows in advance there'll be strong smells involved. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Made myself a coffee and am now back in bed supping it and catching up with email, forums and all other internet interests. Snow I agree with Sam over Rob's increased sense of smell. Get him checked out just to be on the safe side. Griff yes the shepherds pie was very enjoyable. Continuing the comfort food theme I made a tattie pot yesterday. snow Posted November 9, 2014 Report Share Posted November 9, 2014 I should have made it clear that this has been going on with Rob and getting gradually worse for many years now, he has already been checked out and nothing found - he himself doesn't consider that theres anything wrong btw I'm the one who raised it with his Dr and again with his ENT consultant, he's had a coupe of MRI's as he has pain and numbness in his face from time to time and thats why he was seen by the ENT guy and a specialist frontal lobe guy, Rob wouldn't have mentioned the smell thing but I made sure that I did. I've explained to Rob over and over again that what he can smell is not what others smell, he used to dismiss me saying it by saying thats cos I smoked so I couldn't smell anything, but I no longer smoke and STILL cant smell what he smells, and his mum and Nick etc. have NEVER smoked and they can't smell the things Rob can either! I have been trying since the end of October to start my Christmas shopping but I just cannot find anything that seems right for the people I buy for. It doesn't help when I finally resort to asking said people what they would like but they've all basically replied "oh anything, surprise me, you are so good at choosing". Yeah well after years of surprising them I have run out of ideas. They may as well receive something they want or need so give me a feckin clue FFS!
