Augusts Any Anecdotes

An RAF Typhoon fighter jet has just escorted a Qatar airways flight into Manchester airport. I live on the flight path. Where was I? Inside Tesco  one of my friends messaged me asking if I had seen it (knowing I am a bit of a plane spotter). Gutted. It has landed and everyone is safe. Apparently there was a suspect device on board.

Jayne you need to get yourself up here. We have RAF jets flying over lots. When you are on top of one of the fells you can find yourself looking down at one as it zooms past. We also get other RAF aircraft and once one of those big transport planes flew over at just a few hundred feet above my head as I was walking through a field with George. I waved like mad at the pilots as I watched it approach and was rewarded with a waggle of the wings

Wow. That's pretty cool Marion :) The incident has been all over sky news and everything.

It has just started raining, I was going to go out for another ride on Blue, but as it is rainy and cold, I think I'll start cleaning out my under stairs cupboard of junk. I really want to get my bike back from mum and dad's house so I can go out for bike rides when I get time, but I have nowhere to store it. I do think that it would fit in my under stairs cupboard of junk though if I tidy it up a bit, so I might do that now :)

oooooooo how exciting, i like fighters.

vet just called, dex has pancreatitis again by the looks of things, he is sending his blood off to the lab to get the specific levels to see what treatment is required... the only reason i took him in was because he wasn't getting up at his usual time, just goes to show a change in behaviour can be a very good indicator of problems

Hope Dex can soon be sorted out Griff.

I remember my mother telling me that during the war, she was walking across the fields near her home in Yorkshire and a plane was coming over very low...so low she realised the markings on the wings were German! It fired its machine guns and she dived into a ditch, luckily she was fine. Not too long afterwards she saw another low plane, started running but it got even lower and waggled its wings and it turned out to be a friendly Spitfire. At least nowadays in this country we don't have to worry about being fired on, unlike other poor souls abroad. Ironically, her family had moved from Hull to the coast because of the bombing in Hull, her family home was untouched but she could have been killed in the "safe" countryside.

Hope your car is ok Jazz :flowers:

I find is hard to imagine what it must have been like to live during the war, with all the warplanes flying over and dropping bombs etc.

Hope Dex is ok :GroupHug:

I have tidied out my cupboard of junk and there should be room for my bike in there now :)

That bomb threat was a hoax. The person who did it has been sectioned for assessment.

Jazz, sorry about your car, hope you can find someone to sort it.

Good wishes for Dex xx

My mum told me she had to jump off her bike and dive into a ditch many times, as the returning German planes used to get rid of all their left over ammo in Lincs on the way back from bombing the Midland cities. They used to try and gun down cyclists and walkers.
