October's Ornery Oration

Am watching barking mad people on a dog walking type programme on BBC 2 - they make us dog owners look like loonies. Oh... :confused02:

I watched that on iplayer on my phone when I couldn't sleep at 4am!! It made me a bit sad that my Jack is such an anti social boy and he isn't allowed to run and play with other dogs like that. I think he is scared of them and that makes him nasty if they get too close. He just about tolerates my two 'grand-dogs' as long as they ignore him!!

Morning all! Hope yous all have a good day x

I recorded it but not watched it yet.

I haven't ventured outside yet but it looks horribly cold, very windy and grey  I've ignored the doctors orders and taken ibuprofen this morning...my hands are murder, my hip has decided to join the party, and paracetamol and acupan aren't making the slightest difference, I'll have to take my chances with the internal bleeding! Hope all other achy breaky people and animals aren't feeling too bad today.

Owl I hope your friend and her dog are feeling less shaken now.

Suzeanna pain gets you down doesn't it. Hugs. I've had another poor night due to aching joints. it's just as well I am here on my own as I know I would be ratty with another human bean.

Well who nicked our nice weather? Yesterday was a cracking day but we are back to the wet stuff (absolutely nissing down) and it's grey and horrible. Grrrrrr.

DW got some favourable comments about Archie yesterday when she had him out. A couple called him a little cutie and said they were amazed at how well trained he was. I asked the DW if they had said anything nice about her dog and she replied "fat chance". LOL.

I am going now to Google urban exploring.

Ok, I'm hibernating. The knees are hurting more than ever, it's blowing a gale outside (yet we have sun AND rain!) and it's soooooo cold. So I've done an online food shop and am not moving till I really really have to.

Yantan, urban exploring is mostly mooching around old buildings, derelict or abandoned. www.derelictplaces.co.uk is a good place to start, some amazing photos of old buildings we're likely to lose due to neglect.

www.guerrillaexploring.com includes newer structures such as The Shard, where people get to the places they really shouldn't 'just because.

This nutter got onto the crane on the top of The Shard when it was still under contruction. Incredible photos: http://www.guerrillaexploring.com/gesite/public_html/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=143:ges080-the-s-skycraper-trip-2&catid=3:rooftopping&Itemid=9

Of course, my urban adventures will be curtailed till a) I get a new knee and b) it's warmer :-)

No cartliage in the right one and extensive wear/arthritic spurs, Suzeanna. The left one has suffered as a consequence of bailing the right one out. They've promised to look at that one (hopefully just an arthroscopy) once the new knee is settled.

Well now then it seems I have been an armchair urban explorer for some time! LOL. I love looking at photos of old derelict places. Claz I shall pass that link you provided onto my friend in Connecticut as I think she will enjoy looking at the views of London from atop the Shard. I know I did :)

My CaniX friends are a bit better today, thank you.

The event was held under European rules. Any complaint has to be lodged in writing within 30 mins of the race ending. As this time had elapsed by the time that Jenny had carried Tiga back to the previous marshals, waited for a quad bike to come and retrieve them, and had emergency medical and vet treatment respectively, no official complaint could be accepted. By the time the officials had worked out which runner was at fault their team had long gone. Major complaints will be made but as there is no procedure for dealing with an attack of this kind, people will have to put their heads together and work out the best way to proceed. The problem may well lie in the practice some European teams have of pairing the fastest athletes with the fastest dogs, so the runner may not have been used to this dog and may not have known his temperament and how to forestall and handle anything he might do.

We are seasoned urban and suburban explorers, specialising in tips, dumps, recycling sites, back alleys full of rubbish, rundown industrial estates and the backs of takeaways. Where the scavenging runaway goes, we follow. We see the grotty underside of civilisation. Bleurgh! Though I must say we have discovered some interesting structures on our way, pity we don't get the chance to appreciate them as we scurry past.

one of my volunteers in Sri Lanka had an arthroscopy this summer and is having a full knee replacement early next year as the results were she had no cartilage left

She has to do all manner of exercises to build her leg up ahead of the op and has started having acupuncture as well , wisely she is avoiding local treatments as they often involved limes being squeezed over your head

Thats awful Owl , your poor friend and her dog.

Having a real s**t week , have been accused of something i havent done and being fully investigated. The really worrying thing is the person that has done this is obviously someone who knows me well as so many details involve my normal daily routine. So it has to be a 'friend' who literally hates me and i havent a clue who it is but find i'm suspecting everyone. I now have to prove i'm innocent and its harder than you'd think. I'm probably going to have to get legal aid for proper advice/help.Have futher interviews/interrogations on friday. I just honestly dont understand what i've done to this person for them to do this to me, i'm quite a loner and dont have many friends but i've upset someone badly enough for them to do this. Thumper the rabbit is back to normal thankfully but Rufus ,Jodies hamster, died last night , he was such a lovely easy to handle boy and not even a year old so on top of everything i have a very upset Jodie to deal with. Just want to crawl in a hole and be left alone.

This sounds awful...you must be scared and furious, I know I would be. I hope you can get some free legal advice and clear your name of whatever it is you are supposed to have done, and that the real culprit is found. I'd go and get Jodie a new hamster asap if I were you, it won't stop her grieving for Rufus but it will give her something else to look after and come to love :GroupHug:
