Clare
I have tentative good news The specialist has been an absolute star and managed to hurry the results along and what they indicate is that his body is killing the red blood cells only, there doesn't appear to be any indication that he has cancer. It looks as if he has some sort of rare auto-immune disease that was not recognised by the general lab, understandably so. He is now on a large dose of steriods and hopefully he will start to pick up, the specialist wants another blood smear taken so they can compare with bone marrow sample and hopefully get a more definate diagnosis. I am trying not to get my hopes up as I still have a very poorly dog here, and he has been on a low steriod dose the whole time without them being an obvious help, my vet has warned me that some dogs do not respond to steriods and we just have to keep everything crossed he is not one of them. Thank you for all your well wishes, Murf and I appreciate them more than I can put into words
