Teknos had an accident in the night and had to be rushed to the vets. I don't really know whats going on and me and the OH have been up most of the night on the phone or unable to sleep. We think it was a real freak accident he went hairing up the garden the OH said when he let him out at 3am, and didn't come back.... OH heard him crying and found him lying on the lawn unable to get up... We think he just ran smack into the big metal pole that is part of the washing line. Anyway he was fitting on and off for half hour and disorientated and the OH was on the phone to me and he was crying out, was awful, OH said was walking round and banging into things he was on the phone to the emergency vets. They said not to move him whilst he was still fitting - don't know why they said not to take him in but they were in constant phone contact all night. He has chilled out this morning, but he can't or won't stand up. We live next door almost to one of thevet nurses and she reconed maybe dislocated his shoulder but he is at the vets now and had a big pain killer and things but he is not stable enough to anaesthatise for x-rays yet - they just can't say anything at the minute, but worst case scenario is head trauma causing paralysis or spinal injuries.... its awful not knowing. I suppose best case could be dislocated shoulder and just severe shock...... Don't know what to do with myself really - at least theres no on in the office that knows me as I am stuck in Belfast so can get away with doing nothing but researching stuff on the internet and scaring myself stupid!! They are hoping to stabilise him and will reasses within the hour to see if there is any change to his paralysis and give him another exam. They want to x-ray but he isn't stable enough for the meds and won't keep still enough otherwise... but at some point they will have to do it and we will go from there. Please keep him in your thoughts, he's my little baby staffie. Em First Update Vets have rung, he has gone down hill and OH has had to rush round and drive him an hour to a specialist spinal unit in castle donington - theres a couple of things it could be, its touch and go. He has got to have an MRI scan (thank god for insurance, £1,000) I would pay it anyway of course. A couple of the things the vet mentioned are the worst case scenario. If it was that bad why did the emergency vets not tell us to go in straight away I hate to think of him suffering. The OH is in floods driving up the motorway. If its his spine it may be operable. So helpless stuck here I can only cling to the thought if the vets were sure there is nothing that can be done they wouldn't have sent him. What a completely stupid and freak accident. Second update. He has arrived safely at the special unit, so we can only wait and see now. At least I feel somethings being done now if you know what I mean and can get a proper diagnoses. Going off line for a bit as going to the airport so will catch up with some hopefully good news later. Please send this lovely little boy as much healing, positive thoughts and Reiki that you can for him to have a good recovery.
