Results Are Back

I just had a call from the vets to say that Snatch's results are back from the lump that was removed last week from his toe/pad.

Snatch has a very rare form of cancer (he told me the latin name but I have not really taken that part in :( ) which starts where the fiberous cells of dogs paws are, i.e. the pads :mecry:

The reason it took so long for the results to come back was that the lab double checked them twice.

My vet advised that the next step for a healthier or younger dog would be to remove the toe to ensure that the cancerous cells are completely removed as they are already within the pad of the toe. However as Snatch is neither young nor healthy, a GA is a 60/40 with him not surving it. :(

So for now we can only wait and hope that the area removed got most cells and if it grows again it will be local to this specific toe again. If it does grows I will have to make a call if I risk GA or the cancer spreading. :mecry: :mecry:

I am feeling rather down now as now it seems it is a matter of time until either his kindeys, his heart or now the cancer will get him. :mecry:

Please send positive thoughts hoping and praying that it won't grow back and not grow back on other areas of the paw.

Cindy :(

:GroupHug: I'm so sorry. Hope this helps,I did know someone with a wolfhound who had this, she was 10 when diagnosed and obviously for a big breed of her age they didn't advise operating. She went on to get to 12 and it wasn't the cancer that got her in the end. :flowers:

Lots of love for this very special little man. :GroupHug:

I'm so sorry that it wasn't better news. :(

But Snatch doesn't know he has got something wrong and he will wonder why you are upset. Had similar with Lass (bridge babe  ) years ago. She beat the cancer, by dying of old age. 4 years later at 16 and half.

Lots of positive thoughts for Snatch and Loads of :GroupHug: for you.
