tootsmazza
Lucky the greyhound was rescued by a lady in July after he was discovered badly beaten and hung from a wire. It was believed he had been struck on the head with a spade during his ordeal. He was timid and showed signs of unpredictable aggression which initially seemed to be food-related. A vet x-ray revealed his fractured skull had knitted at an angle possibly causing some vision problems and there was a soft hollow in his head, again from the fractures, both of which could have caused disorientation and pain explaining his outbursts. His owner did everything she could and 95% of the time he was an adorable loving groo, the other 5% he was just unpredictable. Sadly she has told us that earlier this week one of his sudden outbursts caused him to attack her mother, who had been walking him twice a day since she brought him home, in her house causing her facial injuries. The vet believes Lucky's brain just short-circuited and there was no alternative left but to have him PTS. It is a terrible tale which sums up the dreadful abuse dished out to these noble animals when they are no longer good for making money. Send a prayer to Lucky tonight that he has found peace safe from his demons. At least he experienced a loving home in his final weeks.
