Bearing in mind I'm not the fittest person why did I take on a 2 and a half hour walk down a very rocky Gorge this morning? Oh my poor legs! Candy loved it but Philip is aching too, we're not as young as we used to be! Do you know Padley Gorge Owl?

I don't think so, and I am not sure that I want to! Still recovering from strenuous tracking session on Friday! Dog was found on Sat, much to our relief. Down a manhole!

Just looked it up on Google. I don't know Grindleford very well, so no, I have not been there.

Good news about the dog.

We started off in the Longshaw Estate, walked all the way down, over the road and then down the gorge. There's loads of big rocks, it's very scenic and murder on the legs! My right hip is killing me now...don't think I'll attempt that walk again, I'll stick to the Cromford canal, it's all on the level!

It must be nice to be able to phone the person looking after your dog/s at a time when you can't have them at home.

Very wet and grey here today. I take it that summers been and gone then.

Archie is limp free :cheer:

We went down to the park today to see the new footbridge which was hoisted into place last week. Tuther one was washed away in the floods of Dec. 2015. They've made a good job of it, it fits nicely into the scenery unlike the one further up that was replaced after the 2009 floods washed it out.

If all goes to plan I will get a visit from Evie this weekend who is bringing her baby brother to meet me. He's 10 weeks old. Naturally I have bought her another pretty dress so I hope she approves. I've got an interactive toy puppy for the baby. He won't be able to have it until he's older but his mum says he has everything he needs right now so approved this as something she can put away for him. Oh and he's called Tristan. It makes me think of All Creatures Great And Small every time I hear it :rolleyes_anim:

That's very nice Alicia. Back at ya!

I met the DW's ikkle baby this morning. What a little doll! I just happened to be passing whilst DW was picking up a dog at another house but she's going to have Izzie with her tomorrow when she comes for Archie so I will get another peek. Our usual DW, Holly, is in Vietnam for 2 weeks so the boss is covering for her. She won't be working again full time until the baby is much older.

Has anyone here tried a vegan recipe that they can recommend? I want to make a meal for Evie's family when they visit.

See anything here? https://www.vegansociety.com/resources/recipes

My son and DIL have vegan friends. The friends always bring there own food when coming for a meal . For example my DIL made butternut squash soup thinking that was safe. But no, because of the one ingredient in the vegetable stock she used.

They say it is easier for them to cook their own food as they know what they can and can't have

Probably too late for you now Marion, but been vegan for nearly 4 years now. There are lots of blogs / pages with delicious recipes, and some with children in mind (lots on FB if you're on there).
Some of these pages might help?

Hi Maria, long time no see :wave4:

No not too late. I am just about to do an online shop so it's very timely :flowers:

Thank you also blackmagic :flowers: and Griff :finger2:

I was thinking along the lines of a curry as I have a couple of good recipes which could be adapted. Evie's mum usually brings food for her but I was thinking about a back-up of Quorn "chicken" bites with some homemade oven chips.

However I am now going to peruse the links and see if there's anything else.

Useless factoid: The founder of the UK Vegan Society was a teacher at my school

oooooo fancy that Yantan!! Are quorn chicken bites like nuggets then? completely irrelevant but i hate quorn and tofu in fact i am a pretty crap veggie as i don't really like the stuff you are supposed to eat! now i loooooooove potatoes however, i have discovered it gives me a dodgy tum if i eat them so i try to be very restrained now.

I am getting right narked with my hair now, i had to straighten it 4 times yesterday and by the time i got to the pub i had a mad afro...well not quite that bad but still Lol so i asked my cousin what to do so she told me to get this keratin stuff and some other things..i got the keratin and have used it and so far it seems a bit better, would love to know how the heck all these women get shiny poker straight hair coz no matter what i do it doesn't look shiny and glossy and certainly doesn't stay straight!

Griff!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I just noticed that I added the wrong emoticon after your name in my last post. You were supposed to get :flowers: NOT :finger2: !!!!!!!!! I am so sorry :blush02: Yes the bites are the veggie version of chicken nuggets.

I was under the impression that the sleeky straight hair look was due to the use of heated tongs. Ruby has wiry curly hair but when she wore her hair in a longish bob she used tongs after every wash and she had lovely straight hair then. It was just a bugger using them all the time so she finally had her hair cut short. Also for the sleek shiny look can't you get a spray on gloss thing?
