Could Smudge Have Some Come Home Thoughts Please

A different RSPCA man is now on the scene, debating what to do. First one was a GSP owner and very sensible. This one is disinclined to do anything on the grounds that "a dog was digging" doesn't necessarily mean much. Kathy has now gone back to the car to fetch Morse, who had to be shut in there as he had to be hauled out of the hole before he vanished from sight, so that she can show the man that it isn't just digging he is is doing but going crazy with frantic, over the top, JCB type digging.

Wish I hadn't come home, but reckon Morse knows what he is doing. Wispa doesn't have knowledge of underground hunting in her genes, Morse does.

Please can everyone send good thoughts for the right decision here by the RSPCA man.

Not down there any longer when the guys came this evening with listening gear plus camera mike to look where Morse was digging. It seems very likely that Smudge is moving around within this immense warren metropolis (think of a Birmingham for rabbits). Except that it's becoming a ghost town as the bunnies have cleared off from the area we think Smudge is in. Very few recent droppings, plenty a few days or more old. If he's moving around then he can get out, and all we can do is wait for him to surface and get seen. But he won't be seen until he wants to be, as this isn't just open sand dunes. There are established trees, hazels etc, and an awful lot of heavy cover, with high bracken and thick brambles. A lot of the time I couldn't even see Wispa, and only knew where she was because of her discs jingling. There are dog walkers who go there, but they keep to the paths, and the car park is closed from soon after dusk to early morning.
