ooh that puts a whole new slant on things because of the word type i feel that as long as your sofa vaguely resembles an ikea one and can be used as a sofa then it is indeed a dangerous sofa and the fact that it has more than one purpose in my opinion only makes it more dangerous

Your sofa doesn't actually have to resemble a IKEA sofa to be classed as type I'm afraid.

Melf is right in some respects, the dual purpose of a sofabed does make it more dangerous. In actual fact ANY item specifically bred as a seating implement is "type". This includes chairs, stools, car seats and of course pouffes. Any of these has the potential to be be dangerous if not used in conjunction with maufacturers instructions and even if they are used properly they still, can and will exhibit aggressive behaviour suddenly and without warning :(

maufacturers instructions

NO, I never received instructions with mine, I just went along paid the money and 6 weeks later some unknown person dropped it of. I am a bad owner :mecry: , please say there is hope for me and that I am not doomed to own an aggressive untrained sofa for the next however many years it has left.

Oh dear Terri, you obviously went to a back yard sofa breeder :( How many times, on forums like this have tou read about the dangers of buying from irreputable sofa dealers? You've all heard the stories of damaged, unsocialised, sick sofas bought from sofa farms in Wales yet you still went out and bought one.

I suppose they told you it was a pedigree chesterfield? I'm sorry thee is nothing for it, you're going to have to hand your sofa in. There's a sofa amnesty in your area and I strongly recommend you act at once. That sofa could attack and kill at any moment :mecry:

The thing is, it's NOT just sofas.

Car seats pose just as bad a risk AND they don't just target people.

The photo below might distress people of a sensitive nature,

look away if you don't want to be upset:

 Please can somebody confirm my old sofa was not aggressive ? As it came from a rescue i do not know it's history at all but it always seemed friendly , sadly it has gone to a better place as Akira kept attacking it , now i am wondering if she knew something i did'nt ?

I feel really bad for allowing Storm to lie on it , i cannot believe i put my dogs at risk like that :(

Can someone tell me if my new sofa is likely to be dangerous?

It's very big and doesn't show any aggresive tendencies at the moment! But it does have a habit of just sitting there and is very hard to take out when it's in one of those stubborn moods!!

You should trust your dogs instincts when it comes to dangerous things like sofas !

Have you tried Clicker Training ? You do need to get that sofa into order before it 'turns'

but my sofa is Polish and while im not entirely sure it had its relevant paperwork and passport to come, even if its an illegal immigrant its been very well behaved up untill now and im not going to panic and dump it just because it might fit a 'type'

I don't think that would be considered a panic action under the circumstances.
