Philip went into work today and told them that as from tomorrow, he's working from home.  He is under the dodgy age but he does have asthma which can be severe at times, and he's worried about bringing anything nasty home to me.  I have the hospital twice this week, so it means I can take the car rather than two buses each way.

I hate cancer, I really really hate it! I'm painting the bathroom door (we did the ceiling last week) and the window surrounds and it's killing my shoulders and neck.  Something that should be so easy and always was is a painful struggle now, I'm fed up with it. Sorry for the moan.

Very sensible of Philip and you can't take chances with asthma or your cancer Suzeanna.  I wish more people would be so responsible.

We have a notice on the door asking delivery drivers to leave parcels in the porch and not ask for signatures if they are required. We then use a microbacterial cleaner on the door handles afterwards for everyone's safety.

Ruby's not too happy about having to deal with not one but two people regarding her old company car. One is here right now. He's not taking it but has been checking it for damage. Someone else will come and pick it up later today. She's been on the doorstep for several minutes with this one. Oh and apparently they are charging £240 for the scratches on the wheels! She's had it 4 years of course it's going to have marks on it! It's probably really to cover the costs of this guy coming out. The company will get the bill.

Moan as much as you like Suzeanna, it must be so frustrating as well as painful for you. I'm glad Philip is working from home and that you get to use the car for your hospital appointments.

How annoying for Ruby, Yantan. Does she have to pay it upfront and claim the money back?

Hope Lewis gets to come home Jazz. It's a shame the job didn't turn out to be the adventure it should have been, but can't be much fun working from 'home' when it's not your home, and I guess there's little chance to socialise or explore the city outside of work under the circumstances.

They are not going to make the over 70's self-isolate up here. The guidelines are that you can still shop, visit family and friends etc., but avoid crowded places and don't go to the pub or bingo! There's no bingo hall in Dunoon but I imagine the pubs will still get frequented nevertheless and the cafes and restaurants seem as busy as usual. Apart from a few empty shelves in Morrisons life seems to be carrying on as normal here.

I hope Ruby's firm points out that it's not exactly realistic to expect a car to be bandbox clean after four years!

Will your son's job pick up again once this is all over Jazz, or is that it? I see the NHS are cancelling all operation apart from emergencies, hope that doesn't affect your planned op.

Great that your life is going on as normal Eve, have you a big garden? Can we all come up and camp, free from irritating viruses...but not from mozzies?

There were a lot of angry over 70's on the Jeremy Vine show on Radio 2, saying they won't take any notice of being told to stay indoors.  One woman said if the coppers appeared on her doorstep she'd drag the cannon out of the shed(why has she got a cannon???), load it with empty wine bottles and fire at them.  She said so long as the Stones keep rolling, so will she.

Just heard from my friend in Wales that the Welsh government is not going to make people over 70 stay indoors as it would be beneficial for them to get out for a walk or drive, but they must not go into pubs etc or socialise. So if the Scots and Welsh seniors are allowed out, I don't see that in England we can be made to stay indoors or get fined £1000 or get taken into custody.

There is a lovely lady in Tickhill who I see around. She is 84 and has a life threatening and inoperable heart condition. Her doctor has told her she should stay quietly at home or she could die at any time. She told him she would sooner have some fun regardless of what happens than sit at home going stir crazy. How can you penalise someone like that?  It is impossible to police anyway. You would need a load of officers to check the IDs of seniors seen out and about. You can't tell people's ages by looking at them. I could definitely pass for 69.

I have very little social contact anyway so I'd be fine lol. We do go to the local pub for dinner occasionally but it's never mobbed and the tables are well spaced.

We have 2 spare bedrooms if you fancy coming up Suzeanna for a virus free break - no need to camp and no mozzies either and it's still too cold for the midgies lol

Morning all. I hope everyone's doing OK?

Ruby is off to the hospital for her pre-op today. They haven't cancelled it but whether or not her op will go ahead as planned is still to be determined. It's supposed to be on April 2nd.

Last week I decided to book a Sainsbury delivery for this week. I don't usually to this until a couple of days before I want the shopping but am so glad I did book early. Since Sunday there is not one slot available with them for the next 3 weeks now! I managed to book one with Tesco for next week and the following week but whether by then they will still be delivering remains to be seen.

If most of the items ordered for tomorrow arrive we can manage, if we have to, for 2 to 3 weeks on a fairly monotonous diet although we will have run out of milk and fresh fruit and veg after about a week.

This is all starting to feel very surreal!

Suzeanna can read the Refuge but cannot for some reason post from her phone. Philip is using computer as working from home. She is very concerned about her daughter who has bad sore throat, fever and cough, and is asthmatic.
