sanrossscot
When the vet was worried Tia might be having issues there, he gave me a liquid that could either go on the food or squirted in the mouth which loosened her 'motions'- it was quite effective so she didn't have to strain so much
smirnoff
So pleased he's perked up. Long may it continue!

Ian
Sorry, I've only just seen this Michelle & I'm glad to hear he's now doing better. If you need to help him in future put on a pair of rubber gloves & rub a finger gently around the outside of his anus - you'll probably find he begins to go fairly quickly. You may want to take him outside first or put some paper under him if you prefer to stay inside at the time - sounds a nice job doesn't it Expressing anal glands http://www.wikihow.com/Express-a-Dog's-Anal-Gland Expressing the bladder http://www.handicapp...ss_a_dog_or_cat Laxatives can also be given to dogs if necessary http://www.merckvetmanual.com/mvm/index.jsp?cfile=htm/bc/23303.htm Edited January 19, 2012 by Ian
Jacobean
Thanks ever so much for all of the help and good wishes for our little sausage. He's been a little trooper this week and refuses to let his condition get him down. He's become completely incontinent now so there has been a lot of cleaning going on

Ian
Sounds much like the "joys" of CDRM, I hope you can keep him comfortable & happy. Is it just old age do you think or is it possible he's slipped a disc?
Laurel n Hardy
Was thinking slipped disc or pinched nerve as well. My vet reccomenede a teaspoon of vegetable oil in the food, this helps to loosen things slightly if anything gets stuck so to speak
Jacobean
He's got a problem with his discs. We knew he was going to deteriorate over time but he seemed to get bad all of a sudden. He's actually coping a lot better at the moment thanks to a sling/rear end harness. houndzrus
Aww, poor Scoobs, must be painful for him. I am glad the sling is helping him.
