Treasured Friend

I lost a treasured friend today

The little dog who used to lay

His gentle head upon my knee

And shared his silent thoughts with me.

He’ll come no longer to my call

Retrieve no more his favourite ball

A voice far greater than my own

Has called him to his golden throne.

Although my eyes are filled with tears

I thank HIM for the happy years

He let him spend down here with me

And for his love and loyalty.

When it is time for me to go

And join him there, this much I know

I shall not fear the transient dark

For he will greet me with a bark.

Don’t Think of Him as Gone Away

Don’t think of him as gone away –

his journey’s just begun;

life holds so many facets –

this earth is only one.

Just think of him as resting

from the sorrows and the tears

in a place of warmth and comfort

where there are no days and years.

Think how he must be wishing

that we could know, today,

how nothing but our sadness

can really pass away.

And think of him as living

in the hearts of those he touched…

for nothing loved is ever lost –

and he was loved so much.

Nigel :mecry: so sad for you, but he took his leave peacefully and surrounded by love when you told him he could go to Lisa. You did everything you could to make it easy and peaceful for him.

Thinking of you all :GroupHug: and wishing you strength for the future.

I am so sorry, he knew you loved him and passed on in peace.

I think he waited untill you left the room to save you the distress of seeing his last breath.

Be happy little man and wait with his beloved Lisa until you meet again

:GroupHug: to you and his doggy friends

:GroupHug: I'm sorry to read your news over the last few days & particularly of Archies loss. The one sad thing about dog ownership is how they physically leave us so soon & suddenly - though I'm sure he will at least always be there in your heart & memories

RIP Archie
