Fee
One tent that can contain 1 person 1 lab and 2 piddly poodles It's obviously a tardis I'm wimping out and staying in B&B, but we have quite a lot of camping gear (air beds, chairs, table, gas stove etc) if anyone wants to borrow anything. I'll only be there Friday to Sunday, though. I also have a small 2-person tent which I'm happy to give away. It's the old fashioned ridge & pole sort, so not as posh as new ones, but if anyone wants an extra for storing stuff or to banish the children to they are very welcome to it. Toddsmum
will give OC a donation for it, have sent you a pm Its yours will bring it along with me I had a feeling Peggy had looked at it in disgust and slept in the car thats why I hadnt included her in the total Yes you are correct Amy. Peggy was rather disgusted at it but she did actually sleep in it so it was 4 dogs and me
Claire P
Yes you are correct Amy. Peggy was rather disgusted at it but she did actually sleep in it so it was 4 dogs and me Oh good I have been looking at bigger tent so the dogs are more comfortable. SO Fee you can clearly send as many fosters as possible to us for the weekend, clearly no prob fitting them in. Oh suppose I have to fit them in the car to get them there. Lots of terrierists then. OK another novice camping question for you all. Do the dogs happily stay in the tent while you are asleep or do you have to stake them? (ie tie a lead to a stake not put it throught the dog like a vampire obviously!) I have no fear of loosing Cooper as there will be no stopping him getting in my sleeping bag with me. Must get a double one for the trip so I don't kill him but the foster dog so far haven't slept with me so thought I would have them in the other "room" to the tent on their own beds. lil_angel
I was worried of this last year as i hadnt been been camping with Louie before. first night i left his lead on wrapped around my wrist but he curled up next to me and went to sleep so had no worries with him. My tent was completely sealed so even if he wanted to wander he couldnt have got out. During the day on the campsite he was either on my lap or on a long line. safneo
If you are not sure about the dog its best to restrain them somehow with either a lead on a corkscrew thingy or in a crate or as I do with Neo, lead on wrist as he is an escape artist with a pointy nose which was designed for opening tent zips so mummy has to run around the camp at stoopid oclock in next to nothing trying to get him back to bed. Saffy on the other had has a crate as she is an efalump and would bring the tent down at the slightest sound of something exciting.

I had a stake in the ground outside our tent so I could fasten the dogs to that: But inside the tent, which was a 3-4 berth tent, I had a single airbed on one side and then put foam mats on the groundsheet and the dogs bed on top and they slept on that side. The tent had enough floorspace for a double matress and the inside 'net' zipped up so they all stayed in there with me
cycas
The first camping trip I did, the hounds happily stayed in the tent whether I was there or not. I foolishly assumed that this was a trend, so the second time, when I left them in the tent to pop to the loo, Az opened the zips and they both came happily bounding out to look for me. Though actually, that was only on the way back and I'd stopped to talk to someone, so perhaps they could hear my voice and were objecting to me hanging about socialising in their absence... I didn't have any problems with them wanting to leave the tent without me, but it probably depends on the dog. I could leave all my house doors open and they wouldn't go out without me then either: the same seems to apply to tents, but with a foster dog I expect you want to be double sure. BeadyP
When trying to sleep in the tent, I had Dream on a long lead attached to my wrist, as sometimes she can be a determined little madam, when she decides we should be going for a trundle. As Safneo has said, pointy noses are most excellent at opening tent zips.
melissa
How is your degree going Paula? I found the dogs slept happily by the bed in the B&B another wimp who can'r camp!
ranirottie
We had Tillee with us last time,Chasta has her now,and we attatched an extending lead to a corkscrew thingy so that she could move around, but unfortunately she chewed through it and did a 100mph lap of honour around the camp, encouraging other well behaved (till then) dogs to join in !!! It will be interesting to see what Millie is like this year as she is an escapologist too. I think Pixi will be ok but Millie will keep me on my toes! x
