redditchlady
I would have everything possible nipped and tucked if I could afford it. I hate the way I look. You may hun, but it's what is inside that matters. I expect if we were all completely honest there is something about us we would all want to change. With me its the "Cooper" conk (nose) Its from my Dad's side. Kazz xx

Happylittlegreensquirrel
I am at the hospital in the morning to see a specialist about a mole that may need removing from my face, its been changing shape and colour a bit and became very tender to the touch and swollen if there are any concerns about it medically it will be removed on the NHS however I understand I have the option to have it removed privately as well if there is no medical reason I think I will have it removed either way as it has given me a few sleepless nights so I guess that would be classed as cosmetic surgery ( as there would be no medical need ) but I think I would be happier once it was gone really

staffymonkey
- sam Totally agree. You can't get cosmetic surgery on the NHS though can you? not for purely cosmetic reasons? Depends on your definition of cosmetic reasons. I *think * you can actually get quite a lot on the NHS, but it can take a very long time, and you only get stuff done if you have a real psychological problem. My very clumsy example: if someone has small breasts, but has developed major problems having realationship because they're so self concious about their figure, they may get help? Some people would call that cosmetic reasons, but I'd say if the person in question couldn't get undressed in front of their parther and had reduced their own self worth to sthe size of their breasts, they deserve help as much as many other people who get help for medical problems on the NHS... I dunno for a fact that I'm right though - nurse type fugees, can you tell us please?

I dunno for a fact that I'm right though - nurse type fugees, can you tell us please? You are right. It is very difficult to even get on the list for this though so it's not exactly 'free plastic surgery'. A good friend of mine had a breast reduction on the NHS last year but it took her 5 years of waiting and psychological assessments etc. to get it done. She is very small framed but had absolutely enormous breasts (Jordan stylee) and they caused her no end of physical and psychological pain. She ended up self harming because she was so depressed as she felt that she looked so out of proportion and because of all the unwanted attention she got because of them she became practically agoraphobic. So she finally had the surgery last year and the difference in her is amazing. She still struggles a bit with depression but she is no longer too scared/ashamed to leave the house which is how she was before and we are even planning a holiday for next year which is something she would never have dreamt of doing previously so for her it was much needed and very worthwhile. I've had 3 moley-type things removed over the years, and my daughter's had 2 (no sun-tans involved - mine were age-related and hers were there from early childhood). I'm sure they always remove them anyway, just to check, so you shouldn't have to go for the private option. Liz.
Happylittlegreensquirrel
I have an appointment in the new year to have the mole removed , I was offered a 13 week check ( where they photograph it , measure it and check again in 13 weeks ) or an appointment removal I opted for the removal as there was every possibility that it would have required removal after 13 weeks and it makes sense to have it removed ASAP The specialist was quite sure that currently it is not a melanoma but could not rule out that it might not cause problems later on as it seemed to have reacted to the sun exposure earlier in the year ( even though I used high factor sun block )

Kimmie
I could never have anything done to my face, especially not a nose job - the thought of them crushing bones - euch! If I had the money however, I would definately get a boob job. No two doubts about it.

loobie
I have always wanted my boobs done - not that I could ever afford it, even if I could afford it I doubt I could justify spending the money when there are so many better things I could do with it
