Just checking in to see how Loki is :flowers:

Had a lesson on Blue tonight. It started off with him growing about 3 hands as he caught sight of the girls in the field next to the menage  Then the pigs in the other field next to the menage started running around and chasing each other  It took me a while to get him settled, but when he did settle... wow!! We spent more time working on suppling him on a loose rein, before picking up the contact and getting him to go forwards. We did lots more canter work, including walk to canter again. I was riding with my competition long boots on, to try and break then in again, I found they really helped my position, as the sole isn't as grippy as my normal boots, so I had to sit really tall and make sure my weight was in my heels. Sitting tall for the canter really helped, and he didn't fall back to trot at all :) I love my pony

Sounds like Blue is really going from strength to strength, bet you can't wait to get him out and about

How is Bumble doing?

As of last night the steriods haven't seem to had an effect, I would think if thats the case tonight then they are unlikely to  I'm a bit frustrated not to have heard back from the vets but guess it takes time to get the scans sent over and the specialists and vets to get together. I am texting Loki's heart and respiratory rate to my vet daily so he is aware of how he is, but think I will be on the phone Monday morning

Is it this weekend CP is taking Milo showing?

:GroupHug: Loki and Clare

 sounds like you're having a great time with Blue.

Bumble is fine. Got to field last night and found the nearby school had a fete on with tannoy system on. Bumble obviously thought he was at a show  and was cantering as i was leading him in. Talk about a handful to get in. Did think of marching him there and offering him as a raffle prize :glare:

I love riding in long boots. For years i couldnt keep toes up heels down, then a friend gave me a beautiful pair of boots. Trouble is i'm a short arse  and the boots were too long for my legs but riding in them was brilliant as my heels had to do down as it was to painful any other way. Years of problems solved instantly  Only problem then was dismounting and trying to walk

Ah you need to get them shortened. I got 2 inches lopped off the top of mine :)

I really can't wait to get Blue out and about, just trying to decide which venue to go to, as 2 venues have dressage on the same say

Glad Bumble is feeling a bit better

I don't blame you for wanting to speak to the vets, I would want an answer instantly if anything was wrong with any of my animals (regardless of the time taken for any tests  )

Clare it must be so fustrating!! Really hope you hear from the vets soon :GroupHug: :flowers:

Glad Bumble is feeling a bit better!

Well done Blue :)

Yes we're off tomorrow to the show. Milo has been bathed/trimmed/pulled/hogged to within an inch of his life  He does look very handsome, if I do say so myself  Im doing 5 classes tomorrow, 2 jumping classes and then 3 showing classes. Im actually more nervous about the showing because I dont know what to expect. Its only a small charity show (Clare its at Millwheel, come say hello if you have time :flowers: ) so I know theres no need to be worried but it will be my first time showing and only 3rd time jumping so still nervous. Have done lots of work with Milo with his 'jumping manners' but i expect they'll go out the window tomorrow! Luckily this time my friend is driving the lorry so dont have to worry about my dads horrendous driving  All of the horses from my yard bar 2 are going so hopefully it'll be a nice outing regardless!

Milo was an absoloute star today, im so chuffed with him

He was so chilled out in comparison to my previous shows, as soon as I got on I knew he would be much better.

We started off the day by doing the show jumping, in the warm up I did all my excercises ive been practicing at home with him and he was responding really nicely. We were in the ring pretty quickly and he was fantastic - he listened to me the whole time, a complete transformation from the horse who dragged me round the course last time we went out  Anyway, I kept it nice and calm and rode into all the corners to give myself more time to reorganise between each fence. We went clear - my first one!!! Then as I was riding away I heard them call the presentation and we'd come 4th!! So I went back into the arena and got to do a lap of honour  What a superstar.

Then we moved onto the showing. I was pretty nervous about it because I had to take him in his snaffle so I was worried he would be too strong. But he was absoloutely fine, infact he was so well behaved we even did the fast extended work in the ring and he didnt get strong at all, even when cantering as a group. We came 5th in the ridden cob and got 2 x 6ths in the coloured classes.

He didnt put a foot wrong for the whole day and his jumping round especially was a complete transformation from his last SJ outing which was only a month ago. Its nice to know the hard work has paid off

My friend took tonnes of pics today so will upload as soon as I get them :) Also Clare popped down to see Mr Milo looking rather handsome, thanks for coming was nice to see you again :flowers:

Was great to meet the lovely Milo he looked fab and he was so well behaved

You both did really well in the jumping as there seemed to be lots of people having trouble all day in that ring!

Did the grey type horse that won the in hand coloured come last in ridden?

He is much the same thanks for asking :flowers: The warmer weather makes things worse but he seems happy enough in himself and is still eating like the proverbial horse

Still haven't heard back from the vet so have just left a message for him asking him to update me on whats happening.

Vet just called me back, typical bloke just spoke like we'd already ageed a plan

They have spoken to specialist and he agrees that what the scan showed was abnormal and the two options my vet came up with are reasonable assumptions.

Unfortunatly they don't want to check him again until Friday as they want him to have a weeks worth of steriods :sad02: so its going to be a very very long week :mecry:

A decison will be made on Fri whether my vets will do further tests such as lung biopsie and something to do with giving him something and xraying it as it passes through his body. Or they might decide at this point to refer him to either Liphook or Royal Vetinary College.
