EAD
Ohhhh dont even start me, I so need to win the lottery As I said in my original post about owning him being a dream, I just cant do it while I have the dogs as they cost me a fortune and will cost me more over the next few months I'll just keep going with lessons though I am scarily attached to him and hate leaving him once ive put him back in the field
Clare
maybe it'd be worth pushing for him to go straight to the equine hospital Mind you we dont have anything like that over here so to me they're these wonderful places as i dont know any better I'm torn to be honest as last time he had to be hospitalised he didn't cope very well (different place though), we dropped him off and I couldn't get back to visit until the day after as visiting hours meant I had to book time off work to get there. He wouldn't eat was really stressed, he did perk up and started eating once I got back to visit him, I think he thought he'd been abandoned He is a much more confident and outgoing boy now so hope he will cope better but it is a worry So I guess he is in the best place for moment if we are only waiting to see if steroids work, but I will have to prepare myself that he will have to go to horspital next week, I hate the though of not having him around, the place is over an hour away and has visiting hours of 10am - 5pm, so going to be difficult visiting him again. Awww I can see why you like Magic so much, what a lovely type I am tempted to go back and quote myself saying you will be jumping before you know it and you defiantly saying you were never going to leave the ground Ah that makes sense then I did wonder how she could have gone from first to last, stunning horse though! gooster
:GroupHug: to you and Loki, keeping everything crossed that if he does have to go to horse-pital, that he copes better. Had a hack on Blue this afternoon, we had a couple of naps and rears and spins, but just rode him through them and he was fine. We had a practice at walk to canter on the bridle path, and did much more cantering than usual. He was really good, and I managed to pull him up no probs (as opposed to using another horse's bum as brakes!!).
collies r best
My friend is looking for a second horse She wants a genuine all rounder to do dressage, club activities etc. Does anyone know of reputable dealers?
Clare
Glad you worked through Blue's moments and had a good hack No dealers come to mind, what area is she looking in? Ok warning rant coming up I text my vet every evening with Loki's heart and respiratory rate as requested. With the hot weather his respiratory rate shot up, the last few days they have come back down but still on the high side and the same as before he went on the steriods. I added in my text last night that although the respiratory had come down it was a bit misleading as it is lower because he is laboring when he exhails, it is taking him ages so the overall rate is lower but its not becaus he is resting between breaths, I also added that the last two nights be has been even quieter than previous. I got a text back to say "think I am seeing you Friday, will take more bloods" So far diagnosis has been one of two things, no mention of blood tests being able to help further with those, if there is anything else that can be found out by bloods why weren't these done weeks ago? Or is he now going off on another tangent, does he remember he has scanned him and what he found? May be I am tired and stressed and not being rational but I am so angry and frustrated by that text. I replied back to the effect I think its time he went to Liphook, see you Fri I am not dissing my vet I understand its a very unusual case and he is doing his best but its a very stressful time and keep throwing things in that have not been discussed and dragging everything out is not helping my state of mind Rant over
gooster
I don't blame you Clare. If they wanted more bloods taken, they should have informed you of the change of plan. I would be certainly pushing to get him seen at Liphook now the steroids aren't helping :GroupHug:
cabbagepatch88
I would be furious too Clare Get pestering and get them to make a decision! Grr...how fustrating
Pendlewitch
Clare, you make the decision! Tell them you want him referring asap, you are the customer and are paying the bills and you are just being sent round in circles. Whatever is going on needs sorting, I'm not surprised you are ranting, you must be stressed out of your head! :GroupHug: Hope for better news soon. Clare
My vet agreed there was no improvement on the steriods so Loki will be going to Liphook on Sunday, then I will go back on Monday for a consultation with the specialist at 8.30, he initially wants to scan and xray then decide where to go from there. Just had my first bill for work my vet has done so far £1,100. I will be happier when the insurance company confirms it will authorise the claim
gooster
Oof, fingers crossed they authorise it Keeping Loki in my thoughts that he settles well at Liphook :GroupHug:
gooster
Did my good deed for the day today. Mum and dad are away this weekend, so had to walk the dogs tonight after work. I decided to kill 2 birds with one stone, and walk over the bridle path to the farm, as the field Blue is in is next to the bridle path going over the moors. Anyway, got up to the field, and noticed one of the cows belonging to our YO had escaped from their field, and wad stood on the bridle path! I phoned the YO, who sent her OH out to check, anyway it turned out that it was a bull that had escaped, but thankfully he went back into the field, and Bryan mended the fence. Blue was a bit surprised at his mum appearing on the bridle path, but happily accepted mints and kisses
