houndzrus
Jack, the Chocolate Lab Time to introduce Jack properly seeing as he might be staying. At the moment he's still on a trial to see how things go. He is an ex gundog who is no longer required because he has progressive retinal atrophy and cannot see to retrieve any more. His options were to be rehomed, or shot. Our vet's nurse persuaded Jack's owner to wait to see if an owner could be found, which is where we come in. Turns out he only lived in the next street to us, so really local. He is 7 1/2, same as Cherry and very good natured. we are currently in the settling in stage, not without it's ups and downs! but we will persevere for a little longer and see how it goes. If it doesn't work out, then Dot will get him moved to rescue, he won't return to his previous owner. He has been here for 11 days and is so like Cherry in nature, both of them love belly rubs! We have a problem with SA at the moment, so if that doesn't get sorted it may be a deciding factor on whether he stays or goes. Bit of a shock to the system after having a laid back greyhound for so many years. special thanks to Wendy for her invaluable advice. Wish us luck cos we certainly need it. i'm finding out that waving to a blind dog is not the best way to get their attention. Everyone needs a bottom for a pillow Cherry has taught him how to model his noo collar. Shoulders back, head up Ten SHUN! and now he can model them himself

Any tips gratefully received for both blindness and SA. We really don't want to fail on him, he is a lovely boy. jax39
He is beautiful!! Having just adopted a rescue JRT with SA I know how youre feeling! Have you tried a DAP spray, or DAP collar? Leaving an alarm clock in his blanket? Any herbal remedies, such as scullcap and valerian tablets? Leaving the TV/radio on? Hope you get it sorted, though it can take time, he looks very happy with you, as does Cherry!
