Had a chat with my vet this morning, I have found out there is an affliction

called Westie Lung Disease, which casues a lot of scarring on the lungs and

is similar in symptons to the cancer diagnosis I was given about Tessie.

He did say that was in the back of his mind but as the news was bad either way he

didn't want to go down that road. The world leading expert in this is a vet who

teaches in Edinburgh, and actually taught my vet.

I can be referred if I choose as they know eachother very well, but the prognosis

is with cancer tessie has a month or two, WLD maybe as much as six or seven.

The treatment is the same, steroids to manage it, I am due to see him next week

so we will discuss things further there.

I don't want to lose my baby this year, but I have to face up to it :mecry:

sorry if this sounds a bit selfish but I really hate

living like this, Iwake up each morning dreading what I may

find when I go downstairs :mecry: . and if something

happened to her while I was at work.

Tessie's history.

When I got her she had just been rehomed to another couple,

but through no fault of their own (apart from ignorance)they had stressed her out by

taking her to a welcome home party where eveyone crowded round her, she did the

only thing she could and bit through someones hand. Thats when I got her to foster

in about march (ish)2006. She came to me a really nervous girl and it showed if I so much as moved my legs while she was near me on the sofa. As I had her medical

records from prevous owners it was clear from her injuries and operations that

someone had used her for kicking practice when she was younger. By the time I had calmed her down it was 7 months later and the thought of parting from her was

actually unbearable, so I never looked for a home for her.

When the rescue called and asked how I was getting on looking I replied that I

hadnt started yet, after a pause they said "do you want to keep her", well as

she was snuggled up next to me half sleeping it didnt take long to say yes  .

Thats when my all boy household got itself a girl

After losing my darling Lisa last year I had hoped to have a better 2010, but

it looks like cancer yet again will tear my heart in two.

She is 11 now, and I have only had her for 3 short years, I just want to keep

her safe :mecry: , but now I can't and it breaks my heart

Apologies for going on so long

Nige
