Popular Breeds In Your Area

Idle curiosity really but what breeds to you see most on your daily walks,ie the ones in your local neighbourhood - and what are the more rarer/unusual.I live in a very "doggy" area with a lot of open space so I suppose that influences it as well.

Golden Retrievers

Labradors

Jack Russells

Border Collies

are the most popular but there are also at least 6 Labradoodles all under the age of 18 months.

Rarer/Unusual

Affenpinscher

2 Dandie Dinmonts

and 2 Newfoundland puppies of 14 weeks - unrelated and with different owners.

Podengo

There are 5 Border Terriers as well as my two

We mostly get

Border collies / collie x - by far the most common

GSDs

Labradors

Jack Russells

Golden retrievers

with a sprinkling of springer and cocker spaniels, boxers and a few greyhounds and lurchers and lots of small terriers, only I'm not very good on small terriers so I'm not sure if they are breeds or weird mixes...

Rare dogs: there are several people with Spinones, and a couple of Ridgebacks. Someone or other has a fabulous Borzoi but I have only seen it in the distance.

Bizarrely, I see Spinones more often than I see staffies here, there seems to be a bit of a Spinone trend. There is only 1 staffy that I regularly meet on walks near us. He's practically a rare breed in this immediate area, though there are plenty of them in Plymouth.

Oh and there's some odd wrinkly little dog that made me think of a sort of lab x dachshund with added wrinkle, that apparently is some insanely rare German breed, only I can't remember what it's called. I offended her owner by foolishly assuming she was a cute crossbreed....

Mainly staffies & staffy crosses.

Quite a few greyhounds, lurchers, rottweilers, WHWT, border collies, JRTs. Plus a good few mongrels.

Rarer, there's an extraordinarily fat spaniel (wider than it is tall :( ) and an absolutely stunning GWP that I quite often see.

On my road there's my 2, a collie type x next door and a little staffie x a few doors down - all rescues :)

I usually see lurchers, greys, collies and collie types, labs and retrievers and jrts on our walks out at the agric college/vet school. About half and half rescue/bought. We also meet the most gorgous blue whippy girl, and a schipperke (sp?) and a couple of beagles.
