Hi I'm New Here.

Hi. My name is Paul. I am 50+ and live with 4 dogs, known as 'the pack'. There is:

Bilbo, a 14 year old GSD x Collie. Had from 8 weeks old.

Bryn, a 5-6 year old Collie x Whippet. From a rescue 4 years ago.

Sheba, a 6-8 year old GSD. Ex Poundie taken in as a rescue dog 3 years ago. I was the rep for another rescue at the time and Sheba only got as far as my home.

Willow, a 3&1/2ish GSD. Ex RDR poundie who came to rescue about 3 years ago. Homed but returned after one year due to problems with owners mothers Collie (Broke it's leg in two places, but then said dog is a mean s*d of a dog (this from woman who's mother owned Collie)). Came to me to re-asses attitude towards other dogs, people etc. Found no problems with other dogs, see list above, and adopted by me.

I also have two rabbits, sorry make that three as of today. One came in as a rescue and may be re-homed. Plus three budgies, all rescues, and two chinchillas adopted from a rescue.

I retired early on medical grounds from the railway industry in 2000. Very early retirement :) and am making the most of it in working with animals. Unpaid of course.

As I say above I was the 'Dog re-homing co-ordinator' and a trustee with a local rescue untill November 2007. I resigned and was persuaded to set up independently in January 2008, and so Barnsley and District Animal Welfare (BADAW) was born. One or two people have joined up with me, we are all still members of the other rescue and support it, just not as much as we used to.

Working very hard towards the 'magic' £5K turnover to be able to become a registered charity, more than halfway there already.

I am sure more will be 'revealed' about both me, as an individual, and BADAW, as a rescue, with more posts I put up. I know that there are a number of people who know me who are members of this forum and no doubt they will let a few secrets out.

Welcome to The Refuge Paul :flowers:

Sounds like you lead a busy retirement.

It's just about obligatory to post photos of your pack

There are other members here involved in the railway industry so no doubt they will make themselves known to you

As has been said pics of the pack are obligatory, you'll also find dotted around and about the forum lots of threads and pics that could be of interest to someone formely in the railway industry - and we even have pics of cranes as well!
