What a terrible shock for you to find out like that :mecry: I suppose the only good thing is that you've discovered it at an early stage, and can work on keeping him well and strong as long as possible.

Thinking of you and Bruno, I hope you still have lots of happy times ahead of you :GroupHug: :GroupHug:

First of all I'm really sorry to hear your bad news :(

As you might have read, Malcolm was diagnosed with T-cell lymphoma in August of last year. The best way I can describe this is that it is a type of leukaemia, which obviously has the disadvantage that there isn't a tumour as such that can be removed and could possibly mean the end of the cancer. My experience was similar in that Mal actually went to see the vet's for something completely different, and "oh yes, by the way, he seems to be having a bit of an infection on his lower lip, I guess he got it pierced by something he wasn't supposed to eat  " Growth got removed, sent off and a week later I was presented with the devastating news - and also with the information from the vet that chemo had little or no effect on this type of cancer :(

I think the best advice that I've received in that time was that Malcolm isn't suffering from anything; as long as he's feeling well then everything's just fine in his world. And, like Bruno, Malcolm so far seems to be absolutely fine in himself and actually it was me who was making him feel miserable. I've spent weeks crying over him and being devastated, and he of course didn't have a clue why I was so upset!

One thing that I did do, and I'm still really happy about, is book us a short holiday - while he was still good I thought. We both really enjoyed it, and whatever may happen in the future, that is something that I can always look back on to make me smile :)

Since then I've been given lots of advice, and I've thrown it all at him; Mal does get essiac twice a week for instance. Maybe the evidence on some things is shaky or even contradictory. All that I know is that there isn't anything scientifically tried and tested that can help Mal, so I'm taking my chances with everything that people, who have (had) dogs with cancer, have advised me as having been helpful for their dogs. I've written it all down, but it turned into a ridiculously long post, so I've deleted it again from this post but I have saved it on my puter, so give a shout if you want to read the long version! :)

All the best to Bruno - and you! :)

I'm very sorry you have had this news about Bruno :GroupHug: I don't, thankfully, have any experience of this, so can't help there, but it sounds as though you are doing such positive things to help him by looking into diet, homeopathy etc :flowers:

I wanted to offer to put a request for Bruno on the Reiki lists that I am on - if you would like me to, just drop me a PM with a message that I can forward to the lists and preferably include a photo too :)

I know it won't seem like a blessing at all, but having the vet discover the lymphosarcoma when looking at Bruno for something completely different has perhaps given you an early chance to look into the treatments you have looked into. I hope very much Bruno will be with you, and happy and healthy, for a very long time to come :GroupHug:

First of all so sorry to hear about Bruno and :GroupHug: to you.

I lost my boy Sam to lymphoma about 4 years ago. His wasn't discovered until it was in the later stages. His neck lymph nodes swelled up but he already had it elsewhere. Chemo wasn't an option so he was put on prednesilone sp?.

So sorry to hear Bruno is so young but having found it early isn't there a possibility that chemo would help?

I wish you all the best and I'm thinking of you. I can still remember how devastated I felt when Sam was diagnosed, he was 9 at the time and a beardie whos life expectancy was possibily 13 or 14 so to have a 4 year old with it is so sad.

Sadie's going through something similar now so I know how you're feeling. It's hell! She has to have an operation on Monday so I'm hoping the cancer hasn't spread and I'm worrying about nothing but if it has then I have to decide what to do for the best depending on the prognosis. One thing I decided when she was first diagnosed was that I wouldn't put her through having chemotherapy. I wouldn't have it myself when I had cancer and I'm not going to subject my dog to it. I think the quality of her life is more important than the length and sometimes the treatment is worse than the disease.

I also agree with Billymalc. Sadie doesn't know she's ill and as far as she is concerned everything is fine. If and when that changes then I will think again but for the time being I'm just determined to enjoy our time together and give her the happiest life I can possibly give her.

Very best wishes to Bruno and to you.

I have seen and experienced with some of my own, Lymphoma :(

The severity can vary such a lot between individuals so it's hard to give any specific advice.

I have seen some respond really well to chemo, some with other regimes.

Homeopathy can help a lot so it's a good route to take :)

Zara's Herbal Tea is great for the immune system also and will help.
