Some days we are really down, depressed and living fear, other days we are positive, and fighting for the future. First of all I'm really sorry to hear your bad news. Since then I've been given lots of advice, and I've thrown it all at him; Mal does get essiac twice a week for instance. Maybe the evidence on some things is shaky or even contradictory. All that I know is that there isn't anything scientifically tried and tested that can help Mal, so I'm taking my chances with everything that people, who have (had) dogs with cancer, have advised me as having been helpful for their dogs. I've written it all down, but it turned into a ridiculously long post, so I've deleted it again from this post but I have saved it on my puter, so give a shout if you want to read the long version! I have been trawling all available websites on the Diet, Supplements, K9 Factor, Transfer Factor, Omega Fish Oils etc, but there is so much conflicting stuff out there. Some advocate fresh Carrott Juice, whilst others are saying carrots are bad and can feed the cancer. When Bruno was first diagnosed, I wanted to bombard him with everything that had been suggested, but Lyndon (our vet) suggested we wait until he had refferred us to Ilsa (the homeopgathic vet) especially as Bruno has EPI. We have put him on a high Protein diet, but this did upset his EPI and we have had to up the amount of synthetic enzymes he takes with his food. I'm very sorry you have had this news about Bruno I don't, thankfully, have any experience of this, so can't help there, but it sounds as though you are doing such positive things to help him by looking into diet, homeopathy etc I wanted to offer to put a request for Bruno on the Reiki lists that I am on - if you would like me to, just drop me a PM with a message that I can forward to the lists and preferably include a photo too Thanks ReikiAnge I am also a Reiki Practitioner, but would love Bruno to receive distant healing from others. I will arrange to PM you the details. Sadie's going through something similar now so I know how you're feeling. It's hell! She has to have an operation on Monday so I'm hoping the cancer hasn't spread and I'm worrying about nothing but if it has then I have to decide what to do for the best depending on the prognosis. One thing I decided when she was first diagnosed was that I wouldn't put her through having chemotherapy. I wouldn't have it myself when I had cancer and I'm not going to subject my dog to it. I think the quality of her life is more important than the length and sometimes the treatment is worse than the disease. I also agree with Billymalc. Sadie doesn't know she's ill and as far as she is concerned everything is fine. If and when that changes then I will think again but for the time being I'm just determined to enjoy our time together and give her the happiest life I can possibly give her. Mainly because of Bruno's digestive problems. We don't think he would be able to tolerate chemo anyway. We will just have to wait and see. It is a hard one to call.
