Really P*****d Off Now

On Monday morning whilst starting out on a short transport run another driver ran into the driving side rear of my car, causing some damage, cannot open rear door and petrol cap cover was sheared off. Luckily I hadn't yet picked my canine passenger up. Well today I took the car into repair place to await assessment and go ahead from insurance for repairs. I have been given a courtesy Nissan Micra, but inside on the dash there is a stuck on sign which says, amongst other things that No animals including Pets can be allowed in the car. So that puts paid to any transports for RDR till I get my car back. We are struggling at the moment with a run tomorrow so would be so relieved and grateful if there is anyone out there who can help please. The run is in the transport section.

I would just put sheets down and use it anyway- give it a hoover before you return it  who will know

I agree - your contract is with the insurer for themn to provide you with a courtesy car whilst they fix yours - nothing in your policy about restricting your normal use. If they aren't happy tell them to take it up with your insurer.

They will be making good money out of fixing your car - they seemed to be talking about £100 odd just to transport it in last time I had to claim when my car was stolen, never mind fixing it - and it was still driveable & only about 10 minutes away.

I had this once when Cass used to come to work with me - they drove to work to swop the hire car for mine then announced she couldn't get in it. I protested loudly that that gave me a slight problem seeing as I was an hour from home with no other way back.

I used the car for a week with her travelling to and from - apparently the issue is with allergic users of cars. worse case really is that you take it to a valet company and get the inside cleaned.. is that so bad? what they don't know and all that....

You might like to ask your insurers if you can hire yourself a car which WILL allow dogs, if the accident was his fault, you can then add the cost of the hire care to the claim on him. Many years ago my partners car was hit by a lorry reversing out of a pub - it was a large exectutive saloon and he was given a Nissan Micra as a courtesy car. At the time he was going for job interviews, and obviously how you arrive can be important for these things - so he hired a bigger car and the company who owned the lorry had to pay. If the accident isn't your fault, you shouldn't have to go without.

What is it with Nissan Micra's

This happened to me to, when I turned up at the hire place to pick up a replacement for my estate I had Louie (GSD) and Celli( SBT) in tow, the guy took one look at them and said " eh, ye'll no be wantin' the Micra then ?" I just laughed and said " no, I have an estate, so I'll be needing one thanks ", I'd just put dogs in it anyway, who's to know

This happened to me 3 months ago and I agreed with the courtsey car peeps that I will crate my dogs and hoover the car out and they were fine with it. All they insisted was that no dog hair to be found after in case of people with allergies. They even took the back seat of the car out so my crate would fit

I had a Vectra Estate when I was rear-ended 18 months ago. I told them I had dogs, that a poky 1 litre box was no good to me, and I got a to-die-for 2006 estate with 3700 miles on the clock. Kick up a fuss Bernie, I'm pretty sure if the accident isn't your fault you can demand like-for-like.

I remember that to die for car Claz. Problem is the place my car has gone to for repairs only have Micra's and Escorts and it is debateable as to whose fault it actually was since the accident happened on one of those mini roundabout thingy's, there is more damage to my car, off side rear door is unuseable as it's buckled and diesel cap and trim were sheared off, she just had damage to (L) headlight surround and everything is in working order. I'm just pleased there is no quibbling as to getting mine repaired and back on the road ASAP.
