Noahs Ark
I'm sure most of you will remember Clay, well this week the TV cameras caught up with him. Shaun Ellis "The Wolfman" is filming a new TV series for CH5, where he uses his wolf skills to help dogs with serious behaviour problems. I posted a while ago asking for training advice for Clay as he has separation anxiety and hates any visitors coming to the house, we put this down to his life previous to us as a pub guard dog. After months of trying and failing with conventional training methods, I saw Shauns documentary where he spent 2 years living with and raising a wolf pack in Combe Martin. Shaun taught the wolves everything, and is their Alpha Male. When I heard Shaun was looking for suitable dogs for his pilot show, I got in touch. When the crew arrived yesterday Clay was his normal unsociable self, barking and snarling at the camera for all he was worth. We have baby gates on all the doors to control the areas where Clay is, much to the relief of the cameramen. When Shaun came in, Clay suddenly changed, you could see the respect he had for this man, who basically is a Wolfman. After two days of therapy, and a promise on my part to include more meat in my diet, we now have this Clay at ease will his new friends. It is amazing to think that yesterday these same people were scared to be in the same room with him, now they all pose with us on the lawn, and more importantly, Clay has learned that he can trust strangers again. There is a long way to go with this boy, but as I think the picture shows, he is worth it.
