Whilst I dont necessarily agree with his policies I look at both Tony Blair and Margaret Thatcher before him & think that they each took their party from nowhere to 3 straight election wins. Love or loathe their policies each has proved themselves a leader - just look at the succession of failures the tories have had since Maggie Thathcer & I fully expect Labour to go the same way if Brown gets the job!

I'd therefore have said they each deserved better from their own supposed supporters.

From those who've said they wont stand I can't now see anybody beating brown to the job but not only will he not be any better I think he'll be a lot worse and I'd be amazed if he can win the next election. It's not a political thing there's just something about the man that I dont warm to.

What irritates me even more though is the suggestion John Prescott will go with him & be offered a seat in the Lords. I think he'll take it offered. He wouldn't be the first and he probably wont be the last but I just can't understand how anyone who professes to be a staunch socialist can become a Lord - surely the epitome of capitalism.

I am not keen on any politician, I think they are all full of bullsh*t. However, IMO Tony Blair was a good leader and certainly I liked him more than any other leader in my lifetime. I am old enough to remember the last Conservative government and I shudder at the thought of them getting in power again

I was so full of hope when he came into power, but feel he has been a huge disappointment.About the best thing that happened was independence for the Bank of England (where I used to work).

I would never have believed a labour government could take from the poor to give to the better off (as happened this budget), and am sad that the state of politics and the reputation of politicians is at an all time low.

If I were a conspiracy theorist, I could easily believe that we are part of some social experiment, where the aim is for us to be either permanently drunk (new licensing laws), or in debt ( university fees, supercasinos), so we are all full of our own misery that we don't care what 'they' are getting up to.And the fact that we all pay the same taxes but can expect different health services / drugs according to which country we live in is just wrong imho

i'm not keen on anyone really, but i think looking back over the years tony blair has made some major cockups but has done a far better job than the other options would've. noone can please all people all of the time, and tony blair has failed to please many people over the last couple of years but i remain thankful that we don't have a conservative government. obviously we will have next time, and that's when people like me will be punished.

as a single woman with no kids and my own small business this government has hit me time and time again with their tax and NI increases so i would be more than happy to see labour out for good.

Wot they said, although I don't have a small business, I don't have children, I am a student who also works. We are apparently too rich for tax credits, yet struggle to make ends meet sometimes

I agree partly with this but on the other hand im pleased with the outcome in Northern Ireland so I feel hes done good here.

To have Ian Paisley and Martin McGuiness sitting together making decisions is something I never thought would happen.
