Zoey, Little Foster Staffie

Hi all, Anyone who remembers about this little staffie I took on who had a lot of problems. who attacked my whippet etc. She went to a new permanant home yesterday.

This is a lady of 40 yrs who is on her own, who had a male staffie for 14 yrs who died over a year ago, both her parents (who live in the next road to her and loved her staffie)said "no more" cant take the heart ache.

I came back from walking the dogs and my neighbour said that this lady was interested in Zoey, and could she and her mother come and see her. They were with me all afternoon, they new all her issues, but loved her on seeing her, I showed them Taz's scars (she has healed well), told them she was a fussy eater, and they said she would be on rice, veg, chicken and steak fillets :) .

Instinct told me that they would be 100% perfect for her. The hard part was my 6 yr old daughter stood there and broke her heart, which left us all in tears, I asked if they could come back sunday so Chloe could get used to the idea. Chloe became happier when the mother said that they have a big house and spare bedrooms at her place, and we could go and visit at her house or Mel's (the daughter) any time. What has made this easier, is that Mel and I had a lot in common, and we are going to go out for a meal, and stay friends and the great part, she is ony a ten minute drive from me.

They have their own buissness so money is no object, Zoey will get everything she needs even specialist care if needed. I think Zoey just won the dog lottery. Mel text me last night, she had settled down and she text me a pic of Zoey asleep next to her (she will be sleeping on the bed with Mel.)

I cannot beleive how lucky Zoey has been, 3 times so very close to being PTS, the last time the vet was almost on his way for this, her attack on Taz Could (only could) have been a very bad ear infection which I had painkillers for, antibitics (she also had ear mite), after medication for this and her cold, she was a happy little thing, and at christmas the boys and I discussed keeping her, she was happy with Taz again, I did gain her confidence and could muzzle her, she started trying to play wth Taz (which for obvious reasons) I stopped. By god did I love this litttle girl.

My heart is heavy and this morning I missed her little face and the way her whole body moved as she wagged her tail. But I have to think of Zoey, she is better off, and although Taz seems to be missing her, I had to thin long term for her, and I have my daughter and Taz to think of, although she seemed so much better.

Mel who took Zoey, brought my daughter a necklace and bracelet and a beautiful embossed Disney Tales 2 book set, in a lovely presentation box. it it beautiful and expensive, she gave them to Chloe and told her "thank you for Zoey, you saved her life, you have a kind heart". How nice was that. She gave me a lovely card with money in, to treat myself, I am going to buy Taz a new bean bag, get my hair cut and the rest I am taking tomorrow to the PDSA who were very good to Zoey.

A big thank you to Ali (Hope rescue) for trying to help me with her.I am very grateful, but Zoey would not have been able to travel that great distance in a crate, with different people for the run, it would have been unfair on Zoey and the people who did not know her, I just could not do it. I did offer to take her all the way, this was not to be. But Ali I thank for your time and effect it meant a lot. :flowers:

Allie (staffiecross), a big kiss and cuddle, from the beginning you was there for me, you was thinking of me and my family, and Zoey with her issues, you offered help in anyway you possibly could, and again for that I am so grateful I used to phone you all times of the day and night so upset for Zoey and you always had time for me even though you seemed to have dogs or kids jumping all over you lol. I learnt a lot from you. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. :flowers:

:flowers: :GroupHug: To all on here that showed me so much support.

In 11 weeks, Zoey became used to a collar, lead, harness and muzzle, she was wary of big trees still, but a hell of a lot better, she starting trusting people and stopped wetting herself, she became crate trained, that was the easy bit, she felt secure in there, she started playing with toys, and most of all she new I loved her so much. I will be seeing her a lot, I jus cant beleive how lucky she got. and what a clever special little girl she is. I miss her dearly..will I foster again...ask me in a few weeks, no sure I could go through all that again. breaks my heart.

Oh how wonderful! It sounds absolutely ideal for her: I hope she settles quickly and you stay in touch!

Glad to hear Taz has recovered well also.

I feel really happy for her and an extra bonus of gaining a potential friend by the looks of it and seeing Zoey. I will in time talk with Cindy from oldies club, as I was going to foster for them before I got Zoey.

What a wonderful ending. :GroupHug: Everyone involved should be very proud of themselves (you esp DeeDee), it would of been very easy to give in at the first hurdle but you fought for her. Well done. :flowers: :flowers: :flowers:

Thank you,I cried so much over her I had a permanant headache, I just coud not give up on her, apart from her issues she gained so much cofidence, that she became funny, she was a show off when me and my daughter was around, she is a lucky little girl and the lady is really nice.

Hi Dee, I have already heard about Zoey and I am so very pleased for Zoey but also incredible proud of you. Considering you have never had a staffy before and you took on one with more than one issue has shown how much love and care you have for a dog. :flowers: Glad all has a happy ending.

Once you send the paperwork back we are ready to rumble when ever you are :)

Cindy
