  1. There are some very interesting figures in there. Thanks for posting dave
  2. Yeah.. I think he chickened out said he couldnt answer emails personally cos hes a busy man. thats got nowt to do with what his last reply to me said . Absolutly positive...not. Bound by disclaimers not to share tho. Sorry
  3. right. So still BSL but more breeds. Yay.
  4. Oh look. someone else who clearly misunderstands the current laws. Maybe wandsworth want to tell merseyside to stop siezing pit types cos they arent classified under the DDA.
  5. http://www.dogmagazine.net/archives/323/an...live-with-this/ Please crosspost if you agree with this
  6. Have you guys read the proposal fo the control of dogs act (scotland) as seen here: http://www.scottish.parliament.uk/s3/bills...onsultation.pdf there is a very real chance this will be put through in scotland and then england. For more info on what the proposal means please see the BSL section"kennel club hails proposal a step in the right direction " . The proposal doesnt do what it says on the tin. If you agree PLEASE email Alex Neil (he is happy to hear from those outside of scotland) and copy your questions onto the comments site of the links in the thread mentioned. There are alternatives out there and you may have an idea yoruself that may help stop dog attacks. Please dont let this slide by without stating your views on it. We did that in 1991 and ended up with a god awful law Lets not do it again...Please?
  7. Maybe right on the questions but i would strongly urge people to ask their own questions and expect a decent reply. If the reply doesnt show you this is a law worthy of pushing through, ask more questions. Its likely only submissions directed at him will be considered. If you dont mention them, how will he know they may be a problem? Again, Email him and by all means copy your question to the comments for added value. His response to me, i am not tackling as yet as i would like an answer to my question already posted first. I have a reply to his response and, tbh, i think it blows everything he said right out the water but i want my answer to bsl question first. One thing i want to really stress is this: If this law goes through we are in trouble. It will NOT protect the public and it WILL have a god awful affect on our dogs. If I am wrong(which i highly doubt) then fine, laugh at me later. But if you have even a one percent doubt in the proposal or think maybe, just maybe i have something in what i am saying, PLEASE do not think "someone else will do it" or that someone else can do any better than you. You have alot more power than you think and if you have doubts too, a few of us together have even more power. Please dont let this go through without stating your position. They are talking aboutyour dog/s.
  8. Told you not to underestimate yourself No one, no matter how many letters after their name or how high up the ladder of any group or job, will see more problems and answers than a dog owner. No one will be able to write the law to protect better than dog owners and parents. I have no idea how it will work on the stream question. The lab question, from how the proposal reads, may mean your friend could be in trouble as iirc(without looking at it again) mention of a high fence, presumably six foot, is a defence. If it aint six foot you may have a problem. Please do put any thoughts you have on the above link. You dont have to list them all at once, just as you think of them. Im sure Mr Neil will reply when he gets a chance I admit to caving and have posted a reply already Ive got alot more to say but would hate to be distracted from the main points first
  9. http://www.dogmagazine.net/archives/316/co...m-proposing-it/ I will be replying but not until monday probably Should anyone else want to take the oppourtunity to question Mr Neil on his proposal as he says himself "feel free to contact him" Ok he does say "directly" but im sure he wont mind if you post your questions up there. After all, he has One thing i will add: I emailed a few organisations today who are stated as backing the proposal. Plus other groups who i am interested in hearing their comments. One Organisation said something quite amazing. I cannot repeat it due to a disclaimer on the email however I urge you to ask questions of anyone who may back the proposal and see if the answers satisfy you. They didnt at all for me.
  10. Ive had a very interesting reply from the SSPCA. someone may have missed something and I know for a fact it isnt me...am waiting for reply...
  11. ~Have also emailed the KC to ask what explanation they give to now not being the right "political Climate" to remove the bsl aspect of a law thats stated as hard to enforce, costly when it is enforced yet either way is claimed not to protect the public. Im sure it will be an interesting reason...should they actually reply... had a few mins spare so emailed a whole bunch of other groups too.
  12. Exactly, which is why utimatley we need to imho scrap what we have and get something in that spells it out for all concerned exactly what is and isnt acceptable for dog owners, parents , everyone. Some of us no-ones are playing at doing just that...who knows...maybe we will come up with something
  13. Police and councils can take out a civil case against someone whose dog has bitten. To my knowledge it doesnt have to be the actual person. Making it a criinal offence will raise the bar to beyond reasonable doubt making it harder to get a conviction. Dont get me wrong, im not saying the law we have is right/ok or anything at all. We do need something else. My point is that this proposal isnt it. Its too flawed still. Theres better alternatives if we dont rush in
  14. Latest - Dead dogs found dumped in East London The RSPCA is appealing for information after three dogs were found dumped in East London last week, two dead and one in an appalling condition. Puppy found dead A bull terrier-type puppy, aged around nine weeks old, was found dead with his ears and tail cut off in Neville Close, Wanstead E11. The puppy, which was found by workmen clearing a small communal garden near to houses in the area, was extremely thin and a post mortem revealed that his ears and tail had been cut off after death. A second dog found dead At the same time an adult male bull terrier-type dog was found dead in nearby Sheriden Road, Forest Gate E7. A post mortem showed that the dog had died of starvation. RSPCA Inspector Dawn Avery said: "These dogs have clearly been neglected and then dumped. It is appalling that people think it is acceptable to treat dogs in this way." Bulldog found in appalling condition The following day on Tuesday, 15 January 2008 a five-year-old female bulldog was found abandoned in an appalling condition on the tow path of the River Lea at Dobbs Weir, Hoddesdon, Hertfordshire near London E11. The dog is suffering from a serious skin condition resulting in very red sore feet, making it difficult for her to walk. The skin condition is also affecting her face, chest and neck. The dog was collected by RSPCA Inspector Simon Osbourne and is now in RSPCA care and receiving veterinary treatment for her skin condition. Inspector Osbourne said: "This poor dog was in tremendous discomfort. We would like to hear from anyone with any information on who dumped her." -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Anyone with any information on any of these dogs is asked to contact the RSPCA in confidence on the 24-hour cruelty and advice line: 0300 1234 999. http://www.rspca.org.uk/ Maybe if we focused on these scumbag owners instead of dogs who havent done anything wrong, we will "take a step in the right direction" RIP pups
  15. Email, write or do both Dont think about sounding like a politician, your a dog owner in scotland. Thats all you need to be. How do you think I got that article down?( dont forget i wee and florm dogs according to the rubbish that comes out my mouth sometimes!) I Went through it step by step stating whatever came to mind. Thats all you have to do, ask whatever question you want answered and say whatever you dont see as working explaining why. If anything I wrote sounds like a point to you, feel free to use it. If theres anything I havent mentioned that you dont get, ask him. Dont underestimate yourself lady Feel free to put your letters up here(or pm me if you want) if your not sure beforehand But tbh you cant say anything wrong (unless you call him names, that might not be wrong tho, just not very polite ) Feel free to forward the link to friends ect who may be interested too
  16. DT iirc are part of the DLAG and DDASG . By reading various quotes in the recent weeks Im guessing they back the proposal ... I could send it in but alas, not living in Scotland im likely to be ignored. However if the Scottish people write in stating any points they beleive should be questioned...then you may get somewhere Tell spud hes a true bullbreed, aint no smile like a staffie smile and no other breed farts quite like a bullbreed!
  17. Is nice to be taken as read, too many people think theres a hidden agenda behind things (there isnt for me) The NDWA from what ive seen is better but I need to check out something that hit me last night about the role of DW as it stands to see if something in particualr is valid or not lol
  18. Have now, thanks If it wasnt so serious it would be halarious! For example So they support the new Control of Dogs Act drawn up by the DDASG which states: Yet go on to say... But i thought they said the new Act would make BSL vanish. anyone ever think your being taken for a ride?!
  19. Thanks I have looked at the NDWA suggestions (tho not in huge details) IMHO its better but I still see problems with it and think there are other suggestions that should be included. I would ask questions ect but i may not be knowledgable enough and allow emotion to seep in (if you dont know what im talking about ignore it lol am feeling sarky today )
  20. Thank gawd for that! Your a hard nut to crack lady! I think I earnt Spud personally but, provided you give him a hug from me ill let you keep him TBH, im not really sure what this guy is doing. I dont get it at all, honestly dont. We do need something but this isnt it. I havent sent it anywhere yet(except to the dog mag in a rant mood lol ). The idea behind it was simply to be able to show people (like you!) what faults I can see in the hopes you contact those responsible for the proposal and ask questions they want to ask. If there are workable good answers then great. If it turns out that it really does protect the public and helps dogs and dog owners, fantastic. But lets make sure it does that first. I am bitterly disappointed with the KC as their hailing it a step in the right direction is, IMHO, misleading as i cant see the step in the right direction! People listen to them and put faith in them to protect the issues surrounding dogs and the public. Yet unless they know something i dont (which is not on as i am a dog owner and have a right to know as this may affect me!) it doesnt do what it says on the tin. The above article probably has faults in it, i dont claim its perfect but i do beleive the core stands. The proposal isnt going to make any difference. It will only be if real people contact Alex neil and the orgs behind this that we have a chance to stop this if it really wont work or improve it so it does. In sort, you have a voice.. USE IT!
  21. lol If i get 2-0 do i get spud Heres my thoughts. Please remember i dont suggest to have the answers but do feel the suggested proposal is madness. http://www.dogmagazine.net/archives/308/co...og-legislation/
  22. S'ok...I'll be very mature about it. Im not gonna shout ONE UP! stick my tongue out at the computer screen while dancing around the room yelling LOOOOSERRR lol...where are those pink elephant emoticons when you need em?! No seriously, if it was a good idea I would be all for it but its not really any different to what we already have and that concerns me. Sure there are a few changes that are new but I personally fail to see how it will stop or even help. I put together an article that goes through the proposal step by step and at points I even say "yay good idea do it" but overall the proposal isnt anything great Ill post the article tomorrow and you guys can take a look and discuss I dont suggest to have the answers or be able to stop dog attacks (unlike some proposals ) but the need for a law that makes no real difference??? I just dont get that!
