Lilli  bless her, shes so pretty

Bit worried about Annie at the moment. Nothing i can put my finger on but summats not right  People tell me she looks great but to me she doesnt, had a phone call to from stable owners as Annie was galloping around field in a state setting off the other two. She was really worked up. Been putting them in back field in case something had scared her but shes getting stressed if i'm a moment late. Today Fern walked past her in field and Annie flew for her grabbing her by the neck then letting go and spinning round to give her both back barrells :mecry: Fern seemed ok just a bit shaken. Annie can be 'bossy' but never mareish but methinks vets need to come and look her over, she can be stressy as she likes routine with no change but shes not a happy girl. :mecry:

Bumble on the other hand seems to think hes a bucking bronco  and has to demonstrate his talent frequently. Hes full of himself and i think he may need to start working a bit off. After basically being written off last year and thinking he'd never be ridden again he doing well...touch wood. However jockey Jodie who witnessed these bucking episodes doesnt seem to be in too much of a rush to get in the saddle

Collies r best, its so awful isnt it when you KNOW theyre not quite right. Lets hope you get to the bottom of it. Glad to hear Bumble is feeling good though :flowers:

Bless little Lilly, I remember when she was tiny

Clare, how did you get on with Francis Whittington yesterday? I was going to come with Sarah to watch but I had totally forgotten I was supposed to be at my Grandads 80th Birthday party so couldnt go

All the horses have to stay in at our place if it snows so it looks like Milo will be in for the next few days. Not that he minds, he loves scoffing his face  Fortunately we had a horse walker built a few months ago for when it snows, so we had our 'induction' on how to use it yesterday. Milo can be a bit of a pansy with new things so was expecting it to be a bit traumatic but he walked straight in and knew exactly what to do so think he's definately been on one before which helps!

Hope all the other fugee horses are warm and cosy :flowers:

Hope you can get to the bottom of what is bothering Annie :GroupHug: There was an article in the H&H recently about the mild weather we've had this winter (barring at the moment!) has caused mares lots of hormonal problems even mares that have never had any issues before.

The clinic was fab CP  FW was fantastic and really seemed to care about what he was doing, and I came away feeling much more confident about our showjumping and how we can improve. Blimey it was cold though and we just got back to WEC when it started snowing

Ours can still go out for half a day so they had fun this morning but four hours later when I went down to bring in, Loki was waiting at the gate he is such a fair weather horse  Hope the weather clears off soon as can't see the lane or the school being defrosted for a while otherwise. Not looking forward to the icy drive over there tomorrow

Hope everyone else doesn't have too much of the white stuff :flowers:

OMG! What is with this snow??????? Am freezing   Not used to this cold stuff at all. Didn't go riding on my hols, it was just too hot. I know the horses will be used to the heat, but I didn't have room in my case for my hat and boots, and there was no way i was getting on an Arab without!

Sorry to hear Annie isn't feeling herself, hopefully she will be feeling better soon :GroupHug:

Glad you enjoyed the clinic Clare

Glad Milo was a good boy for the horsewalker :)

Apparently it has all gone mental at my yard whilst I have been away. There are one or two characters without whom the yard would be a nicer place, but the YO has never had anything concrete to prove they are doing anything wrong. Anyway, apparently one of them was caught stealing, and when the YO went to tell her she had to move, the girl punched the YO in the face :( I really like our YO as she tries so hard to keep everyone happy.

Oh, thats interesting, do you remember what issue that was :flowers:

I'm wondering if it could also be dental, i've heard an odd noise as she eats so trying to find when the next equine dentist comes over. If not i'll get local vets but two dentists that come over specalise in horses teeth and are vets so can sedate etc if need be so i'd rather have a specialist do her.

 Gooster, hope YO is okay, thats bloody awful

We have no snow

I appear to have got myself a little occasional job. An advert appeared on my local horsey FB group, a lady with a large mare and a pony wanted somebody who could look after them (muck out, turn out, bring in, do hay nets, and feed) while she was away with her employer (a show horse rider) at shows, it's ad hoc, so will suit me fine.

Turns out, she's DIL to the lady #2 son helps with the poo picking.

Havent posted in such a long time as ive sort of lost my way with riding atm

Since our instructor broke her ankle last year we've perservered with lessons but seem to be going nowhere fast, in fact I think we've went backwards.

Also having problems with Magic, he always was strong but hes been bolting off in canter outdoors/indoors/left rein/right rein. They've changed his bit and put on a flash but doesnt make a difference. Sometimes he can be ok, if I do lots of transitions etc and keep his brain thinking, im wondering if hes getting a bit bored with the lessons.

Just for a change we tried another school today, they have shows and a lot of people travel to it but the riding school was a different matter altogether. Small dirty pokey indoor, very very skinny pony I was on. Teaching wasnt teaching at all, just someone giving instructions and shouting kick kick kick, hes being lazy. You dont rush a horse into canter, you need a good forward trot first then ask for canter. This was my friends horse, mine was slightly more forward going but just not a good experience at all.

Feels like riding school pupils are treated like second class citizens and they can shove you on whatever they fancy with no proper teaching. Is it too much to ask that teachers be BHS qualified.

Sorry rant over, im just annoyed and frustrated and disappointed

That sounds a great arrangement K9Fan

EAD sorry to hear things have gone downhill at your riding stables, sounds like you have every right to feel fed up with what is happening. Are there any other stables you can try?

A few pics from the clinic on Saturday

EAD I wondered where you had gone! So sorry to hear you're having a bad time. You're probably right that magic is getting bored, these cobs are very clever you know  are there any local bhs registered yards you could try?

Weeeeeeeee go Loki - when Mr Monkey is back out we can be 'Team Piebald' Hehe. Do you do any David Sheerin clinics Clare?

Clare that last jump pic over the white gate is fantastic!!!! look at him stretch!!!...

EAD Im sorry to hear about your rubbish lessons my younger sister had a very similar problem, except she was nearly bucked off this bronk of a horse they put her on as a beginner (It had put their top instructer in hospital)....I came very close to the throat of this so called instructer before walking into the school and geting my sister off the horse and taking her home....Try and get onto a 'local' riding forum if you can and see what other peoples experiences have been....and always watch a lesson before paying for one...if they wont let you watch a lesson then walk away
