  1. Huge again. Rainbow Bridge has gained a real ambassador for the breed. He was an absolute star who touched so many hearts. And he landed on his feet the day he landed on your doorstep Could never even dreamed of a home for him like he found with you. Sheelagh is going to call you Margaret. Hopefully she'll be better than I was on the phone If you need to talk, you know my number
  2. Margaret. Have been sending every last healing thought that I have for Merlin since you called. He's such a special boy and he couldn't have found a better home than with you Come on Merlin, please get better.
  3. Oh Terri - they're absolutely beautiful!
  4. OMG I found my soul mate! I have literally hundreds of handbags and am about to thin them out when I move. I have a bit of a thing for River Island bags at the moment - have you checked their site because they have quite a few really nice ones which you might like? I also adore Radley bags and spend a lot of time in John Lewis looking at the bags there (and wishing I had a bigger bank balance!). I got an amazing Olsen bag from TKMaxx a few months back - its like the tardis but doubt the strap would be long enough for you - I like them shortish handles so I can tuck them under my arm
  5. I've been to one of their 'sales pitches' near Gleneagles. You get Mr Nice Guy who tries to sell you this concept then you get Mr Nasty (usually the manager) who comes over and rips the p*sh out of you. In my case he really did sneer and tell me he doubted my children enjoy holidays with me because I take them to boring destinations that weren't child friendly Its very high pressured and I can imagine why some people sign up. I believe the holidays aren't totally free - you have to pay taxes from what I understand, you are under pressure constantly from them. I wouldnt' go back as it was quite a lot to deal with.
  6. Great to hear Gracie is improving Continuing to send loads of positive thoughts
  7. Ooo Hello! When teh server moved I couldn't find the Refuge Met Terri on Sunday and she sent me linky so hello again everyone
  8. Actually when I checked it i was over 4000 dogs in Northern Ireland but I couldn't find the right stats for it so didn't post them I don't know why its so bad in Northern Ireland. As you know I have some experience of the conditions there and no one I've spoken to has ever been able to give a reason for it. In saying that, I do believe there is a lack of rescues there and definitely a lack of people prepared to takew on a rescue dog in comparison to the mainland
  9. Foster home now secured for these girls so thread can now be locked Thanks for everyones help!
  10. See, this is the bit I don't understand about this argument. The North is part of the UK. So does this kind of thing mean that dogs from Scotland shouldn't go to England or Wales to Scotland and so on? Which leads me on to... Is it okay to take a dog from Belfast cos its 'British' but not from Dundalk because its a few miles across the border? ETA: If I recall rightly, around 3000 of the 8000 dogs pts in DT figures were in northern Ireland...
  11. Bumping this to say they have til Friday this week. Rescue will pay for food, vets bills and anything else these girls need if a foster home can be found for them.
  12. Should have said. Dogs are currently in Edinburgh area but as ever, location is less of an issue - the right home for these girls is vital - thanks again!
  13. Hello I have around ten days to find these lovely girls a home. Hollie and Sasha are two "delightful" girls who need a home they can be together and live out their old age. They're both brindle full staffs and both are both described as big staffs which are 'overweight'. Sasha (aged 9): Hollie (aged 6): Both neutered and vaccinated and would suit a home without kids under around 12 years. Both have fabulous temperaments! If you can offer them a home (or a long term rescue space) please contact 01620 82 9711 These dogs are being homed through Staffie Rescue Scotland therefore the rescue's terms and conditions would apply Thanks!
  14. Is his throat okay? I ask because this is what Kyle does when his throat condition flares up - it drives me nuts. The biggest sign when Kyle's not well is he starts to lick his lips constantly then moves on to other things like carpet, couch etc.
  15. NEWS ALERT ‘Shock and Outrage’ as dog is fatally injured live on TV Greyhound Action were inundated with complaints last week when a greyhound was seen crashing to the ground during a televised race at Belle Vue. After making further enquiries Greyhound Action sadly discovered the young 2 year old greyhound, Frisby Foreman, was euthansed at the track rather than being afforded the expense of veterinary care. To view the article and leave you comments please click here. http://www.dogmagazine.net/archives/1086/s...red-live-on-tv/ Please also spare a thought for Frisby Foreman who, despite earning thousands of pounds profit for the bookmakers during his short ‘career’ of only 13 races, was rewarded in his hour of need with a lethal injection. 16. Aww thank you! I am sooooo behaving myself tonight Teri cos you told me too. Tomorrow night is a different story and you never mentioned behaving myself then
  17. Oooo thanks for that! Sorry Ange but nicking your thread! *off to try the BT website*
  18. We have a YAC number which looks like a mobile number but can be diverted to any phoneline - its currently set to my home phone and can accept faxes as well as voicemail. My issue is the cost - I didn't know until recently (and we've had it maybe 4 years) that it charges similar to a mobile number. I like it because it protects my home number, I can transfer it to someone else while I'm on holiday and mostly its used by the press for statements and I have no issue charging the press. I do have huge issues charging your average person who wants to find out more about the campaign though. Not much help but I do think the 0845 one would be better if you want people to contact you (if its companies, I'd go for what costs you less) and if I can raise the money, I may also change to 0845 number too. So am interested to hear if anyone else has any ideas?
  19. I got 13 out of 14 and didn't read anything. Me and OH were watching that programme last night and both have said, as Scots, we wouldn't take a British citizenship test because neither of us feel British
  20. For any Scottish relatives, check out Scotland's People website and you'll get loads there - my mother has done our tree right back and most of it through that site. As for Orkney (I lived there for a while - you should visit!) contact the parish minister on Papa Westray and ask - they are good for keeping records up there and I'll bet there are loads of people who are distantly related to you still there!
  21. Funny thing is Kathy is although I never get scared being alone, thats only with the lights on. I have to sleep with the light on. I just can't sleep in darkness cos I see shadows and my imagination normally turns it into a ghost who's coming to get me Makes me wonder how I'd cope if I was alone and there was a powercut
  22. I live alone - well apart from 5 hounds and cat and two kids and occasionally OH stays over. But even when they're not here and OH is at his own place, I never get scared. In fact there is occasions where I forget to lock my front door before bed. I'm not sure why given I live in a house built in the 1700's and I suppose its a bit spooky. I suspect I feel safe because I'm in the centre of a small town and live over from a taxi office where they come and go all night (and I know they watch out for me). If I was in the middle of nowhere I think that would worry me more but even walking at night, I get more spooked from the thought of dead people than alive ones But I might just be weird
  23. I couldn't watch. I know what happens. I just didn't have the energy to watch it and feel so bloody powerless to stop it For those of you who haven't seen this, this pic was what I was up to last weekend : The Sporran is still made from real fur and its the middle of the tourist season and almost all the tourist shops are selling real fur sporrans Celeste - if you feel strongly enough, I'm on the stall outside Register House again 12 - 2 p.m. this weekend - will have clothes on this time
