  1. When we went to Crufts this year I filled out an application for the Top Dog Series on Animal Planet, not because I thought we'd have a chance, but so I could get a goody abg (Misty loved her frizbee) .. anyway, just had a phone call ............. we have been invited to attend the auditions next week! It would be for Katie & Ellie, and my mind has now gone blank on what I wrote on the card Wasn't anything that they couldn't do, but one question was "do they do any tricks" I'm so giddy but also bricking it. Have to treat Pingu to a nice meal tonight (kebab me thinks ) to try to talk him into it as his first response to "do you want to be on telly?" was "not really". More worryingly is if we get through auditions then filming starts in August, how can I lose about 5 stone before then!
  2. She is stunning Well done for finding her and taking her in
  3. Ok, not related to Soya but I'm going to throw one of my gripes in about people who say they are vegetarian yet are not. Some people make a big deal about being vegetarian & stating that they don't eat meat yet they still eat fish! Ok, fish aren't a cute lamb/pig/cow etc but still a living creature. Vegetarianism is the practice of not consuming the flesh of any animal (including sea animals), so if someone says they are a vegetarian but eat fish & seafood then they are hypocrits. If they want to eat fish & seafood then they should claim to be a Pescetarian as they do not consume the flesh of land dwelling animals but in contrast to a vegetarian, a Pescetarian eats fish & seafood. Just thought I'd post my thoughts (I am a carnivore, but could easily become vegetarian. Could never be a vegan cos I like cheese too much .... but I make sure it doesn't contain "rennet" )
  4. Have just eaten too much Chocolate Fudge Cake Am meant to be dieting
  5. On behalf of Ryker, thank you for all your birfday wishes, he sends big licks to you all I got him a cooked chicken on the way home so he had alot of that on his supper, but naturally the furry black piranhas did too. He's had lots of cuddles and a one-on-one walk and he's currently snoozing on the settee
  6. Happy birthday Sausage, Love Pingu & Rykat xx
  7. I can't wait to see all the lovely photos I emailed mine last night, but only received 2 confirmation emails .. not worried though as I know peeps are busy (entered 14 pix in the end because I couldn't decide, but it all for DNB so I don't care!!)

  9. Sorry for not posting sooner (not been round much), but CONGRATS on the new addition He's gorgeous. (they both are) I have promised Ryker that IF we ever get a 7th dog then it will be a boxer and not another rottie
  10. Thank you to everyone who have suggested things to try. I did some "google research" and came across the Skin Combo (thanks MadMerle ), ordered some Neem oil & pet shampoo which seems to have good reports, not sure whether it's working or not but have only been using it since Saturday. We have kept off the Fuciderm whilst we try the new stuff. Thanks for the suggestions of using Hibiscrub, have tried it in the past but this didn't work. Nor does Malaseb shampoo:( Have used some Aloe Vera gel (from H&B) which only seems to cool the skin but not tried it from the plant yet (is the plant gel toxic if licked?) Another 2 questions folks .... He's quite a hyper dog most of the time and I was wondering if Serene-UM might help as if he's calmer his body can heal (does that make sense?) Also, whilst doing my google searching I came across a Husky forum that had good results with using Athletes Foot Powder, but not sure I want to try that Will post again IF we get a breakthrough.
  11. Thank you. We might do if he gets anymore .. poor thing is slowly resembling a patchwork quilt

I can vouch that Mason is a stunningly handsome boy. (not as gorgeous as Maddie though but I'm biased!)
  13. Hi all Does anyone have experience of treating a dog with wet ezcema? One of our rotties (Tyler) developed a patch on his shoulder last year, we shaved the fur and applied Fuciderm cream from vets which although the patch looked awful, it did work and eventually the fur grew back. Had no problems until last month when he developed a patch in the same place, we went to the vets, same treatment and again it cleared up except for the usual bald spot until the fur grows back. Problem is yesterday we found a new patch on the back of his neck, have applied the cream but didn't shave the fur, but this morning it looks awful so going to have to shave it Diet wise he's fed on Burns which is hyperallergenic, gluten/additive free and the only treats he gets is hide sticks, but I've been told that wet ezcema isn't diet related. I would like to try an alternative approach to the fuciderm cream that would hopefully prevent us having to shave him and stop him looking like a patchwork quilt! Can anyone suggest anything to try? Thanks

    Iams?

I must admit that I'm a huge fan of Burns. With 6 large dogs with individual health probs it has suited them all and instead of having 4 bags of different food we now just feed Fish & Rice. Ryker (boxer) cannot have gluten/wheat as his skin reacts badly, Katie (rottie) has pancreatis and is ok as long as she's not on high protein, Dino (rottie) has ... MANY probs from HD/Arthritis to squiffy tums, Misty (rottie) has colitis, Tyler (rottie) has eczema and squiffy tums ... Ellie (rottie) is the healthiest! Finding the ideal diet for animals can be as problematic as for humans .. not everyone can eat curries/greasy food but equally high fibre/pasta etc can upset. Depends on the individual animal, I'm just glad that we've now found a food that suits all
  15. I'm so sorry My thoughts to you all Run free at the bridge little one
  16. Big congrats to Diz He's such a gorgeous boy, even his slobber doesn't stop me luvving 'im Congrats to all
  17. I think that's excessive and cruel Ours get left for max 8.5 hours a day during the week as Pingu & I work full-time, BUT I leave for work at 7.30am and Pingu comes back for lunch anytime between 11.00 and 1pm, then I'm home from 4.30pm so they're left for 5hrs max in morning, 3.5 hrs in afternoon. They are not crated and all 6 have free run through the house, but they normally just sleep. My rabbits are in dog crates but not the dogs
  18. Hi Rachel, welcome and well done on the video, it's wonderful
