  1. What a lovely looking place and beautiful pics of super dogs all getting on so well together it seems.
  2. Our new foster hound is here already. Another black dog with white paws and tail tip. Henry stayed with his dead owner for a couple of days before they were found and has no other family to take him. He was with an old bitch who had to be pts so poor lad has lost his owner, mate and home all at once. He arrived an hour ago and is panting and pacing as expected. Unfortunately it is really hot here at the moment around 90*F which isn't helping any. Poor old thing is bad on his back legs and his teeth don't look too good and he also needs to be neutered. However he is quite overweight and will really need to settle and lose a bit before having a GA I think. At least with this one we won't worry if he doesn't eat for a while which is just the opposite from our last foster boy Ranger who lost weight with his dental and took ages to start eating again. Fingers crossed Henry settles. So far Sally has not been bothered and he isn't interested in her either so hopefully we won't be worrying about grumpies. Ranger has settled well so far and I can't see him being returned. However, as we only have Sally now I reckon even if he did have to come back we would still only have 3 hounds so could cope OK as long as they all get on. I was really looking forward to having an OC foster hound this time though, if something suitable came along as I like a change from greyhounds once in a while, much as I love the breed. It ovbiously wasn't meant to be but Henry is still an oldie in need so I guess that's what really counts.
  3. She looks gorgeous. Nothing like a black hound with a silvering face which is always a winner at our house too. She sounds like a dream girl and I hope you all have many happy years together.
  4. Our practically perfect foster hound Ranger has just left for his new forever home. He has gone to live with a tripod boy and an experienced grey owner called Judy who may well be known to some of you. Please wish this lovely hound lots of luck for a long and happy life.
  5. It is so quiet and empty here without Sonny who was a real mummies boy. We still have 14 year old OC lurcher girl Sally who is a little love and a 9 year old RGT greyhound foster boy who is a perfect hound, but I guess we just got used to having 3 dogs most of the time. Not sure now if we will adopt another smaller oldie to go with Sally or just keep her and foster others. I guess something will happen to make the decision for us anyway but I wish my lovely sunshine boy could have stayed longer. Thanks all for your comforting posts.
  6. My beautiful Sonny Sunshine crossed over to the Rainbow Bridge totally unexpectedly at 7am this morning. He had a heart attack or an aneurism burst and he was gone in less than a minute. He was so well apart from his eyesight and hearing going, and we had no warning at all that anything might be wrong. He was such a good boy and I am glad he had an easy passing but it is such a shock when they go like that and he was so special to me with his kind, gentle ways. Miss you Sonny Sunshine....love you forever. Sonny.....1999 - 23rd June 2011.
  7. How sweet is that! Nice for the young calves to meet a dog that is friendly too.
  8. Lovely pics! Looks like a fun place to play.
  9. Three black hounds with four Sunshine collars. Sonny on the left looking nervous because snooty nose Sally in the middle is bossing him but foster hound Ranger on the right is falling asleep as usual. Having won the martingale in the Easter raffle on the GAP site, I liked the material so much I have just bought the three tag collars in the same so they all match now. Trouble is it's harder to tell them apart when they are lounging around than when they all had different collars.
  10. He is absolutely gorgeous and just about perfect! Apart from being a picky eater and not cat friendly I can't fault him. No messing, no chewing, no barking, sleeps all night, easy on a lead, super in the car, fine with people, traffic, thunderstorms, no problem grooming, wiping feet etc.,can be left a few hours with our other dogs. You really couldn't ask for a better dog so far....unless he shows his 'true colours' when he has been here longer and settled in more but really I think what you see is what you get with this one. So I'm not in a hurry to rehome him really as he's no trouble at all, but I can't foster others till he moves on so we will be hoping someone apart from me falls in love with handsome Ranger before too long.
  11. He has been in racing kennels all his life and he is going on for ten now. When he retired he moved into their rehoming section......but nobody ever chose him. I think in the end the kennel owner just gave up on him and let visitors see the younger prettier ones but he is a lovely boy , a bit quiet and shy so probably doesn't sell himself well but he will make a cracking dog for someone wanting a calm, sensible, easy to handle boy.
  12. First pictures of new foster hound Ranger.....still recovering from GA and dental I think, looking at his eyes
  13. Ranger has arrived! Gorgeous big black greyhound minus most teeth but otherwise seems fine. Lots of drinking, panting and pacing as usual with a new dog out of kennels but he jumped into the car for a ride to the river and a walk with my two, laid down for the short journey, didn't try to jump out when the door was opened and walked easily on a lead.....seems like a good start. He's settled down for a rest now and I'm not sure how he'll do with eating his dinner but we'll see. He's actually 9 years old, not 10 and seems like a happy, confident boy with new people (us) and strange dogs (my two). All black except for a little white on his chest and a greying muzzle, a big boy and quite handsome so I'm hoping someone wanting an older hound will come along and snap him up.
  14. Exciting time again in our house as our next foster dog is due in a few days. Not an OC dog I'm afraid but he is an 'oldie' being a 10 year old black greyhound boy who has never been offered a forever home so has spent all his years in kennels. He is having a vet check and dental on Thursday and if all goes well will join us soon after so I hope my two oldies will welcome him nicely and show him the joys of home life. Can't wait to see what he is like and maybe find someone who is looking for an oldie just like him.
  15. So very sorry for your loss. Fly free sweet girl.
  16. Another super dog that is going to bring a lot of pleasure to some lucky new owner.
  17. What a gorgeous dog he is! Reckon someone will snap him up pretty fast.
