Due to my current mobility problems I can't easily do this, but I take them up the end of my garden which is over 50 yards away as garden is a very long narrow strip. Then I let them loose through the cemetery railings into an overgrown area with a lot of berries etc, and I also leave some birdseed for them in hope that they won't come rushing back.
