griff
Deags is in great condition luckily...he just commented on how good she looks, she's only 18kg and a large staffy mix so very lean, she will have surgery if it happens much more, to asked if they can do it there because I don't want to go to the specialist...he said "oh yes the cost" I said no, she's insured so I don't care but it's getting there and her having issues I prefer my own vets to do it
Jazz
going to a specialist doesn't mean it will be done right. I lost Trudy because of the specialist. I would only let my vet do anything now
griff
I went to them with diesel...he said she wouldn't be able to walk let alone run if she had ruptured her ligament...got a phone call an hour later, sorry ruptured not only one leg....the other too! When she had surgery it cost £1500, they moved to a new "hospital" and when Laney needed doing 3 years later they quoted nearly £5000!! My vet did the banding op which I was happy with for £1600

Yantan
George had a luxating patella which went out frequently. The vet showed me how to manipulate it to pop it back in. He said it wasn't bad enough for surgery but it might be something he'd have to do in the future. It never became necessary. George's knee would go and he'd either hop over to me or stand with his leg up and wait for me to go to him to put it back in. He'd carry on after that as though nothing had happened. I do think that some, not all but some, vets do ... let's say not strictly necessary treatments for the ££'s. If I had to have specialist vet treatment for any future dogs I'd be looking at The Royal Dick Veterinary hospital in Edinburgh. The work they did on a friend's Border Terrier was AMAZING. They virtually re-built her back legs after the got smashed to bits when she was hit by a car. She wasn't a year old when the accident happened. 13 years later and those legs are still holding up. Yantan
I hope your mum is OK Griff. I love the idea of going to see the doc with tiger stripe vet wrap! I've just cut up ginger root, chillies, garlic, spring onions, mushrooms and chicken ready for our tea and I'm in a hot sweat! Have I mentioned that I hate this humid weather? Just wait till I am standing over the hot plate cooking it all! I've done the rice already which is just stirred in at the end. so I didn't have 2 rings on the go at once. Oh you just posted Griff. Lymphatic fluid, gosh I hope that's not serious. Tell her I am thinking of her and wishing her a non problematic recovery.
